Beardie Name Origins

My female is named Saphira, not very original now, lol, but I loved the Eragon books and had to have a female dragon named Saphira! My male is named Buliwyf, prounounced Bull-Vi (long I). His name is an old nordic name from the movie The Thirteenth Warrior. I love that movie and loved that name. It sounded very old world and strong and I liked the character so my male got the name! We call him Bull for short and Saphira has been Phira here lately....we're are bad about shortening names in the family! Love everyone's names, very interesting how everyone decides on them.

Taz the Spaz!

We went through a lot of names with Taz, and the Tazzmanian Devil (the looney toones guy) came to mind. I threw it out as a joke, and it stuck. The Spaz part came later as his true character started comming out, after getting himself lost in the house after escaping his cage, and his random spurts of speed in random directions. Oh, and him trying his very hardest to get a flying bug on the outside of his cage, between the cage and the wall. THAT was funny... and sealed the 'Spaz" part. :lol: (and I couldn't find a ton of other dragons with that name... I wanted something semi unique... there's one other person with a dragon named Tazz, with an extra z, but that's a girl... so Taz is still unique... at least I shall choose to believe that )

I named my beardie Monti-Fray. Monti came from the nearby city Monticello or the car Monti-Carlo. I dont really know which. And i got fray from our neighbors dogs middle name which is froy. I later extended his name to Montgomery just cause!

As discussed in another thread my son named his (our) beardie Gibbs after the lead character in our households favorite show, NCIS.

I named mine Fluffy because she is not....that's how I roll with names 9_9

I work at a pet store and at christmas, I blew up a photo of her poster sized in a santa hat and placed it in the window. It was well-received =)

Chomper earned his name better than any of my other animals by far. He lovvveesss to eat. We decided to name him Chomper after The Land Before Time character when he was just a baby, before we knew he was a pig. Reptar (who we had to surrender to the vet) was named after the Rugrats character.

Dylan - one of the angels from "Charlie's angels" she was my fav character and very fiesty, it match my fiesty bugger, then i found out She was infact a he and the fact that dylan is a boys name too was just a happy accident, lol.

or

Nimrod ~ cute sea monster from a tv show called "surface"

My baby's name is Blazen Maize aka Blaze. He's a citrus dragon...maize is corn...corn is yellow...dragons breathe fire...blazing fire...BLAZEN MAIZE! Lol

My new beardie is called Buck. I named him this because in my old neighborhood there used to be a lot of toads all over the place and I prided myself with this one toad whose territory was my front yard. For some reason I named a wild toad Buck but.....it worked and the toad really was quite a character. He was quite docile but was a vicious hunter and once I saw him eat a worm while doing a hand stand. Now my beardie sometimes has a toad appearance and the first night he fell asleep like this:

Last night he fell asleep in his pool (I took him out though). So it was settled that I would name him after the toad :mrgreen: .

Yoshi got his name because my husband and I are Super Mario nerds lol

The day we got Aurora, we were on our way home trying to figure out what to name her. We first came up with either Flame or Venus and Venus was just about to win for the name when my husband suggested Aurora. This is a name that has special meaning to us for personal reasons. So that was it.
Now that we've had her for 3 months, I realize that the name absolutely suites her more than our original reasons for naming her. Because of the fact that she puts herself to bed and loves to snuggle up with us to go to sleep. I guess she kind of reminds me of the Sleeping Beauty whose actual name is Aurora. So she also gets called Princess Aurora.

My hubby and I are also HUGE Mario Brothers / video game nerds so Yoshi was a natch. Guess great minds think alike! Valentino is cause he was my Valentines Day present this year. I went in to the pet store to get my dogs Valentine cookies and came out a new mommy!

As you can probably tell I also love Sleeping Beauty!

DNA was the greatest writer. I LOL so many times reading his books. I have a blue shirt with a whale on it that says 'I wonder if it will be friends with me?' SO many people don't get it and it's kind of hard to explain....you see this spaceship has an improbability drive... then their eyes glass over and I've lost them. Slarti is one of the best characters ever. I'd love to name something Krikkit, Dish of the Day (I'll be very humane), Deep Thought, Almighty Bob, Fenchurch, DNA, 42, The Electric Monk, Toerag, Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz, Ol' Janx Spirit, Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, Hotblack Desiato (spending a year dead for tax reasons), Zarquon, or Agrajag. I have a lot of pets to get!

I just confused a lot of non-hitchhikers.
