Beardie hearing

My beardie, Puff, lives in his viv in the living room. Since we got him, I have stopped vacuuming so much in there, unless my husband can take him outside or in another room away from the noise. We have had him for five months and I really need to get back to my old vacuuming schedule as we have two kids and two cats who hang out in there as well. Can I leave him in his viv while I vacuum? What do you guys do? I don't want to hurt his hearing. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Yeah, in my experience vacuuming around the tank isn't a problem. While they are able to hear, they communicate visually, and Cooper never gave me an indication that noise from a vacuum (or loud music for that matter) bothered him at all. If it disturbs Puff you'll likely notice a clear physical reaction, but I wouldn't worry about it much.

Thanks for the assurance. We just want to be considerate guardians. When his lights go out at 8pm we either leave the room or turn the TV/video game volume way down as the noise seems to keep him from getting right to sleep. We also turn the lights out in the living room.

Since they are so much more visually oriented, I think turning the lights down is much more helpful to them than limiting noise. I'd bring Cooper out of the tank at lights out time if he was still awake so he could fall asleep on my chest as I read or watched TV. Then put him to bed later on. I listen to records a lot at night and the noise never seemed to bother him or wake him up. If I kept the lights on full though, he'd sit in his hammock and give me quite a look until I turned them down a bit.

Both of my dragons live in the living room. At night I cover them up so the lights won't bother them. The noise doesn't bother them at all. My little one will ride on my shoulder while I vacuum.

Emmett and Emily have their own room with a tv and radio. Although I interact with them All the time, they seem to like their quiet time. Since they have a tv, noise doesn't seem to bother them and will intently watch me vacuum. I even have a small hand held vacuum for their tanks, I put them on their basking spot and vacuum the tank of salad that has been kicked out of their bowls, shed skin and such. It never bothers them.

This isn't anything to do with vacuuming... but my dragon Arya... seems to like some noises... she gets excited if I play guitar or sing. She watches me intently and/or then wants all kinds of attention and to be out of the tank cause she's happy.... lol

Angie isn't afraid of the vacuum at all, in fact, she sits on the vacuum and intently watches me use the power head. We haven't run across any noise yet that actually scares her, including all sorts of power tools. Guess she thinks she is supervising us using them. She even rides the lawn tractor while my hubby mows and she loves it.

Julius has never reacted to my vacuum either. I like to play music while I clean house, as well. When i move to his room I have to leave the music in the other room. Something about guitars and drums must bother him. I name him after a Phish song and he shows his appreciation by snubbing his nose at my taste in music. First time I turned on the radio near him the stress marks on his belly turned into thick grey rings.

For my dragon, he always sleeps on time at 8:30 pm. As long as the light is off in the room, he will quickly fall asleep. If I turn on the light in the room after he falls asleep, he will be fine and keep sleeping but if the light is on when he tried to go to sleep, there will be a problem and he will stay awake for a long time even when the light is off.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
