Why don't you handle him? lol, just do what your dad did. Let him sit on your shoulder and such.
Well, I'm only 11 lol and I have school but before school I give him 2 mealworms at 8:00 then I go to school then I come back at 3:30 and he is usually hungry by then so I have to feed him 8 crickets but I read in a book that they shouldn't be handled until 3 or 4 hours so I go back to the tank at 7:30 and he is sitting in the plant where I cant reach him :| And when I try to pick him he just struggles and tries to get back in the tank. It does hurt my feelings a bit. Also, he does let my dad hold him but not me

First, mealworms aren't good for your beardie. Just stick to the crickets. :)

Just be sweet and have a calming voice, reach in there and pick him up gently. Slide your hand under him from the side. Just put the beardie on your shoulder. No trick to it, just put him up there. Do it a few minutes at a time. 3 or 4 hours is a stretch. They just need to bask for an hour or so after they eat for proper digestion. Spend some time with the little fellah. He'll come around. :) :)

you can handle him more, i know a lot of things you search for are a bit misleading... wehn i get home at 530, first i start phoenix a bath, then after his bath we play in the bathroom/hallway for a while, usually at least an hour then back in the tank for dinner and basking. keep working with him and soon you will both be inseperable! lol

Ok then. My beardie really likes mealworms so I just give him 2. :p
Im a bit worried that if I put him on my shoulder he will jump off :?
I try to pick him up but he doesnt like it and he jumps onto his wood. :(
How can I pick him up without him doing that?

Right so when you finish the bath u let him go around on his own? :D
I thought u were not supposed to do that.

yep thats what i do my friend, and everyone does things differently. I'm in alabama so its getting warmer here so after a bath he gets to roam around a bit, he does of course have a heat lamp for just in case he gets too cold, that way he can get under it for a few minutes. usually after the bath and play Phoenix will eat for me, usually about 5 roaches (depending on size) oh and i'll tell ya, phoenix still wont sit on my shoulder, he doesnt like fast movements so it just doesnt suit him, and hes 9mths old now... he does like it on my forearm, i keep my arms close to my chest and hes just fine. just like us all our b.d. are different as well, so they wont all like the same things... hope i've helped you 8)

Just talk to your beardie in calm voice , and make sure he knows your there before you pick him up , and let him just hang on your shirt or sit on your shoulder, my beardies with me for like 4 hours a day running around my room or having a bath, or downstairs. :D

Ok :)
Mine usally hangs on to my skin not my shirt lol
Hias nail sometimes gets stuck on my skin so i have to put him back then he jumps off.
When I do pick him up (I have done it twice)
The first time:
I dropped him by accident
My dad had to pick him up :x
He gave the beardie back :D
I carefully took him into my room then he tried to wiggle away so i just held on but not tight. Just tighter
I went back to the tank and put my hand out so he could jump off.
He clung on to me then after about 1 min he jumped off into the tank.
The second time:
My dad picked him up
He gave him to me :laughing6:
My friend stroked him.
I walked with him to the tank.
He clung on for about 5 mins then i had to pick him up with the other hand and put him on the sand lol.
By the way this was last week and I didnt know you were supposed to handle them for like an hour or 2. I wish i knew

Also I have lots of stuff he could hide into in my room so should I let him or not? Where else could I let him free? :?

well if your dad is handling him more he is going to get used to him more...
i agree bath him and often just put your hand in and stroke him, take him down stairs and let him run about..
just little things will help such as feedng him yourself..

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
