beardie freaked out. worried he hurt himself

I took my bearded dragon out of his viv to walk around and he seemed calm. Then he started walking towards the window and something panicked him. He took off running across the room and tried to crawl into my entertainment center but he couldn't get very far inside and he was just completely panicked, trying to dig his way under some video game controllers. I tried to pick him up and he puffed up, his beard went black and he opened his mouth at me. I tried to pick him up as gently as possible but firmly enough that he wouldn't wriggle free and I put him back in his viv. Now he's just sort of cowering in the corner and he hasn't moved in about half an hour. His beard is still slightly dark but not black anymore. He doesn't look injured but I don't want to disturb him to get a better look because he still seems upset/scared. He kind of flinches if I get too close to him.
Am I worrying for nothing? I'm just afraid he may have gotten hurt when he was trying to hide, or when I picked him up. I didn't squeeze him or anything, but I just thought he would be acting more normally by now. It's almost time for his lights to shut off for the night so I know all I can do is see how he is tomorrow but I can help but be worried about him He just seems so traumatized. What should I do?

my male did that same thing. he was in his viv watching outside and out neighbor walked past our yard.
he flipped out and ran away from the window.

i took him out and held him for a good half hour before he unpuffed, but he was still black bearding for a while after that.
by the next day he seemed calmer, but still a bit weary of the window. after a week or so he forgot the whole incident.

i would suggest just holding him close to you neck and talk soothingly to calm him down and remember to not be afraid of you.

Thanks, I'll cuddle with him tomorrow. He's sleeping now and he moved his legs into a more normal position. He usually only stretches them out behind himself like that when he's relaxing so I thought it was odd he was sitting that way while he was still upset. That was the main thing that had me concerned. I think he'll probably be fine tomorrow, I'm just a very paranoid dragon mom lol.

Poor guy. I had to read this because my little girl just FREAKED! I went to give her a bath and she jumped out of my hand! She landed on carpet and started running immediately. When i did get her she bit me but i got her safely back into her viv but it was time to eat and she won't eat. So should i take her out and cuddle her? or leave her to try and eat? I don't think she hurt herself but i know she is stressed I feel terrible!

I just took my 5month old outside for the first time and she was sitting in the grass on my leg fine then a baby rabbit ran through the yard and she ran and hid in this garden, box that's. In my back yard she puffed up opened her mouth, and turned black ! My poor baby she ran so fast I almost lost her I'm buying a leash I'm still shaking she seems to be fine now !! She scared me I didn't even notice the rabbit untill I was able to grab her and put her on my shoulder and I talked to her to come her down that was a little frightening for the both us :x :c :x ry:

Hi there! I think he'll be fine, but he might appreciate a hide if he doesn't have one already. If he's the type to enjoy being wrapped up or cuddled then you can try that too. My girl Lotus has done the same thing after getting spooked outside before. We got her back into her tank and she spent a few hours in her hide and acted skittish for a while, but I'm pretty sure that's fairly normal.
