Beardie Escape! Update...Punished!

Just another warning to people who take their beardies outside.

I take Diablo out all the time and he is so big, I usually don't bother with a leash. Well, today we were sitting in the sun and he got excited and jumped off me....and he ran...I swear, I have NEVER seen a beardie run that fast. He was running and I was running behind him and he deliberately went behind a cabinet under my carport.

Thank God, I grabed him. But he was FAST. I honestly never thought they could run that fast!

He wasn't ever out of sight, but now I can see how just walking away for a second, could mean a missing beardie. He hates his leash, but from now on...he is going to have to wear it.

Oh My!! So glad you got to him. They sure fast!!! I laugh every time Louie runs in the house.

He is a little punk, he looked at me before he jumped....

I let him loose in my house and he runs, but he really put on the speed outside! I just hope this helps remind everyone, you CAN NOT trust them and they are QUICK!

Wow! Glad it all ended well and you caught Diablo. My son had a similar scare with our oldest beardie Rex a few years back. He had her outside and Rex got spooked by something. She ran so fast and hid under a dock. My son said the same thing as you Kaya... I didn't know a beardie could run that fast :shock: It actually scared the heck out of my son, thinking he may have lost Rex. They are definitely fast little boogers!

Reggie did the same thing to me, and I was lucky to get her back. Now the girls don't go outside without leashes on!

Well, he isn't happy because he now has a kitten harness. And, He tested it out by tryong the same trick this evening...this time he gave me the stink eye when he found out that jumping down did not equal escape from his human momma! Little turkey!!!

Sarge is fast as hell. He saw my dog when we were outside and he bolted. He had his harness on but if he didn't he would have been out of there.

My family thinks I'm nuts, but this year I bought a dog stroller for Scorch because she isn't crazy about the harness either. I was able to take her to a birthday party a few weeks ago at the park and we were there for 4 hours and I have to say that the stroller was worth every penny just for that outing. Now when it is nice outside we can take nice long walks too.

Glad to hear that you caught him! I made the same mistake when I took Equinox out for the first time... I've never seen a beardie run that fast! He ended up in a corner and black bearded me, which was hilarious and adorable at the same time (he's only about 12 inches long) but I learned my lesson with him... now I'm trying to leash train Kana, but that is having less than spectacular results. Oz really couldn't care less about the leash.

ya max is not allowed outside without his leash because he runs very fast in the house and im afriad he will be up a tree, but ya i know the attitude the stink eye max gave me that the other day when i would not let him in my room (i would never find him) and then he was on my bed and my boyfriend was sitting with him and grabbing him everytime he tried to jump off the bed and eventually max head bobbed..it was funny i tried to get him to do it for my parents but he woul not ..oh well hes only a yr old im sure there will be more head bobs to come

Well, Emmalee never runs very fast, but on a couple of occasions she has taken off like a Jesus Lizard!

She went full boar, for about a second trying to get to the cedar bushes. The first time I tried to stop her mid stride she ramped it up even more and I got the black beard and the super huff. The second time she tried it I caught her mid run, and she hissed, she was so ticked off. On both occasions all I could do was laugh at her. However, she does not run very far, She's quite the lazy specimen.
