hi i am hoping to learn a little more about female beardies and how to know if they have eggs and at what age do they normally develop eggs? i just lost a young female to egg binding they reptured inside of her. she was only a baby and never scratched or anything. i have two more females here one is about the same age as bacardi and would like to prevent this from ever happening again

Was she mated? Normally they wont cycle infertile eggs till around 2 years old. Drastic weight gain is the easiest sign (if you have a package scale, you can get them fairly cheap at walmart). They can gain 20-60 or more grams in a period of a few weeks when developing eggs. That coupled with a large distended stomach, sometimes you can feel the eggs outlines in their stomach but not always, and the digging which not all do right before laying.

i got her in october she was 9" 28grams. she lived in a cage by herself no chance she was mated. she always had a huge belly i thought she was just fat. you can see her big belly in the pics of her on the memorial page. i also weighed her reguarly and she gained at a steady rate like my other youngsters.

Wow i cant imagine one producing infertiles that early in life. Did the vet actually xray her to see the eggs or was that just his best guess? Sorry not calling you or your vet into question that just seems extremely odd for one so young and small to produce infertile eggs.

she was not x-rayed but she got sick so we took her in. the vet noted that her belly was distended thought it was filled with fluid. stuck a needle in to drain the fluid pulled out egg yolk. she died in intensive care a few hours later. the vet opened her up to see what happened and she had 20 eggs in her some whole alot had ruptured. i dont know her exact age but she was 9" 28 grams in october i got her from a pet store it wouldent be possible for her to breed that small when she was at the pet store before i owned her would it?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
