This has been worrying me for a while now. Ever since Irwin got out of brumation a couple months ago, he's gained a new behavior that I'd never ever seen him do before - head bobbing. He's only doing it in his sleep, but it's very frequent (he probably bobs a few times every 30 minutes or so, all night long). He's also been getting the black beard a lot, which was a rarity before.
At first, I figured he was just getting dreams or nightmares, but as time went on and he continued to do it, I started thinking, "well maybe he's going through beardie puberty... about time." (He's a little over 2 years old, 16" from nose to tail, and in good health.)
It's probably not a big deal, but this new night-bobbing behavior is hard to ignore, because I'll just be laying in my bed trying to sleep and suddenly I hear thumps coming from his cage. It just hurts me to hear it, and I was wondering what's causing this and is there a way to stop it?
In the meantime, I guess I should put a towel under his head before he goes to sleep every night. :lol:
