Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I posted, I had a battle with coccidia that I didn't want to rehash, haha. Anyways, my beardie, Yoshi is about one year old, just got a good report on her coccidia and pinworms about two months ago. After giving her Albon and SMZ and suffering through her feeling icky, and forcing baby food and acidophiliz down her throat, getting bit a few times in the process, everything seemed SO much better. after she recovered a little from the medicine, and the havoc it wreaked on her digestive tract (even with probiotic), she was active, did a lot of basking, i saw her gaping for the first time ever, she got a new house (3x2x2), slowly, i have watched her turn into a recluse. She used to come out of her hide any time the lights were on, then it became only when i put food in her tank, now she wont come out without me physically taking her out of her hide and putting her on the basking area. she will stay there for about 5 minutes, then she crawls right down and into her hide again.
Some things I should mention:
She still eats very well, except by the time she comes out, her greens are already wilty, so she wont eat them. I dont remember the last time she ate greens.
Lightening struck our house about a month ago, since then, there have been people re-roofing our house, and generally making noise right above my room, this is also when I started noticing the behavior, is it possible she is just a little freaked out still? and if so, what do i do?
currently, i got fed up with moving her, only to have her go back into her hide, so i blocked up her hide for now until shes ready to go to sleep, and she isnt liking it so much. glass dancing and the like. but i really want her to bask, so shes just going to have to get over it.
oh, and i started her on acidophiliz again, to see if it would stimulate her appetite enough to make her come out by herself and eat.
ok, now for the usual questions:
3x3x2 enclosure, slate tile substrate
last pooped last wednesday, but she hasnt ever pooped everyday
basking temps 105-107 (taken with digital therm. with probe, directly under bulbs)
warm side temps 87-90
cool side 77-80
UVB is a reptisun 10.0 24" florescent (about 4 months old)
shes very active, i wouldnt describe her as lethargic, especially with how she is acting right now. she seems very pissed, but i dont know what else to do to get her out, if anyone can tell me what i can do or why she is doing this, It would help put my mind at ease. thanks!
