Beardie doesn't drink

I have never seen Ozma drink from a water source. The only time I've ever seen her drink water was a few times that I tried dripping water on her mouth. Aside from that, I've never seen her drink. She doesn't drink in the bath, and she doesn't drink in her tank.

Now, for the first few months, I wasn't that good of an owner. I made sure she had water every day, but I never gave her baths, so she couldn't rehydrate then, either.

Does anyone else have this issue? Do your dragons drink? If she doesn't drink, how did she keep herself hydrated before she started getting baths? What's the deal?

Wild dragons get their moisture from dew on the plants in the morning and evening.
And their burrows are fairly moist as well.

So while we can't really offer dew in the mornings, and a moist burrow, we can offer the veggies all day long, and baths.

Sure, I get all that. But does anyone have dragons that do drink? I just think it's really strange, and that she should be drinking at some point, but she never does.

I know that some dragons do drink, but the closest mine has came to drinking was an inquisitive lick of the water bowl. I just offer baths and fresh veggies to keep her hydrated that way.

while your dragon may not drink, they are still getting fluids via their vent. Although it is little they are still getting hydrated without drinking. Mine have all drank....it takes several minutes before they realize that they are in a pool fool of water but they all do begin drinking...

yeah i believe it all depends on the beardie. When i had my first 3 clutches...all of them ate greens and everyone says they really are not interested in them right out of the egg. These guys ate like champs at a week old. They are truelly individuals

i allways worried my little wasn't gettin enough water because even in the bath i never seen her drink water. so i started useing a q-tip to give her water by opening the sides of her mouth and rubing the q-tip alonge it. she with swollow the water that gose in her mouth she seems to like it, is this ok to do?? thank u

From what i've been told and believe i've read somewhere too is that it's just a natural instinct for beardies not to drink water that is sitting still. For the same reason humans are told if they ever have to drink water in the wild make sure it's moving, because things such as bacteria, infections are more prone in still water. I believe that dragons do not drink still water for the same reason it's just a natural instinct to avoid the bacteria and infections. Could be wrong but it's always made sense to me.

Has anyone ever put a water fountain in a beardie tank? I'm talking one of the small ones you can find at a home improvement store that runs on electricity and keeps recycling the water. Maybe that would be an interesting experiment, but they're probably difficult to clean.

while your dragon is sun bathing, soak paper towel, give it a "tail" and drip the water on the dragons nose and mouth. be patient, give dragon chance to feel smell and taste the water. replicate rain or due dripping from a leaf on to the dragons face. this is the only way my man will drink, and he will drink quite a lot once every few days. when he has had enough to drink, he will turn his head away.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
