My lab sends lots of vertebrate species to be CT-scanned for our research. The scans are then uploaded to a program called Osirix, which allows us to manipulate scans in 2D or 3D. My beardie was scanned last month, and I did a quick 3D volume rendering:
Later we'll manipulate the scans by cropping out whatever organ(s) we want to look at. We usually focus on cardiopulmonary systems. I really like how it's a non-invasive way to get information on morphology.
