Who was in control or overseeing the Bearded Dragon in the Capital One commercial to make sure it wasn't harmed? I have had Beardies for years and know that if they are suddenly placed in strange or frightening situations, and rough handling can be harmful to them. I hope the Beardie is all right, and taken care of better than their credit card customers.

That was really cool to see a beardie on TV. 8) Like Jerichosdad said, it is very unlikely the beardie was harmed in the making of the commercial and it was probably special effects.

This commercial is wrong on so many levels! It's ridiculous for a company to think it's OK to abuse a Bearded Dragon in an advertising campaign regardless of how it's done. If it is computer generated it is disgusting for Capital One to depict the abuse of these beautiful creatures. If it was done using a live Bearded Dragon as it appears to be, along with putting all those other reptiles in the bottom of the machine, they should be charged with abuse. I'm certain if they had used or depicted a kitten or puppy flailing around in that claw machine the entire dog and cat rescue community would be up in arms, screaming about it, insisting on abuse charges. Is it easier to say..."oh, it's CG and cute" and not deal with it.....there is NOTHING cute about showing a frightened Bearded Dragon flailing around as it hangs from a claw! Where's your rage about this???

I wrote an angry letter to Capitol One's CEO and the heads of it's Advertising and PR departments. One angry letter won't make a bit of difference....a million might.

I agree that this was not the best PR shot for them. My 14 year old son, who loves beardies almost as much as I do, what horrified by this commercial. I told him that it might not be real, but real or not, the beardie looks scared, is trying to find ground for his feet, and we just don't like it.
I don't think it's cool to show a beardie that way, but that is just my opinion.

I don't know about the genuiness of this commercial. For one I saw what appeared to be a harnness of some sort under the beardie's tummy. Then I took an even closer look and there are certain elements about it that make we wonder if the beardie really is dangling at all. I mean we who own beardies know that if a beardie is DANGLING the tail normally would be thrashing about because of the lack of balance. At least my beardie's tail would be. The beardie in the commercial did not. If the beardie really was dangling then that would make me think the beardie was not uncomfortable. I also for some reason feel like they edited the beardie into the claw. The claw wasn't positioned correctly for the beardie to be inside of it. You could see the bent hook part that would have had to be UNDER the tummy to even close and hold the beardie in the air. Also when I look at the hind legs of the beardie they were not frailing and I really wouldn't say the front ones were either. Very odd for a beardie in distress. My beardie does that same motion when she reaches for me on when she is on her rock and slips but she doesn't get stressed by it.

This commercial is a hard call :?

Food for thought....how many people do you think were this irate about kids bashing adults in the head or flinging explosive like devices at targets or having someone sling an axe into a pizza. :?:
