Hello,
We have a beardie, Aegon. He is almost two years old. Our vet said it is likely a "he." Yesterday we noticed his toe is falling off and discolored. He seems ok behavior wise but my boyfriend does say he seems to be avoiding the foot. We will call our vet on Monday but I wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on what we could/should do in the mean time. Our friend has one and said he used rubbing alcohol but I really don't want to do that to him and read on here it is toxic for them. I don't want him to be in pain or it to get worse. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you all. I posted a pic of the injured foot and the healthy one and his cute face.

It really is ready to fall off, but at least it doesn't look infected. Sometimes they do injure their toes, it may have been a tightly wound piece of retained shed or maybe broke when leaping from cage furniture like a log or hammock. The ankle area looks like it's a bit swollen which may or may not be related. If you have an experienced reptile vet, see what they think. The toe itself will fall off and shouldn't be a problem.

Is the carpet from his enclosure? It could be he damaged his toe on a loose fiber. Its very difficult to say. But the toe looks normal. Maybe he just injured himself.

Yep, very important to avoid catch points for the toe-nails , which will easily get caught in webbing and loops of carpet fibre and a panicing beardie can do serious damage to snagged toe, foot and even leg and hip or shoulder when trying to pull free.

Important to make sure the toe nails are trimmed to try to reduce the likelihood of toenails being snagged.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
