Hi guys, i really need urgent help with my bearded dragon, i have no idea whats wrong with her and its really worrying me. I thought she might have coccidian parasites so i gave her a 3 day course of tolturazil with probiotics, and now two weeks on she hasnt really improved. She still sleeps most of the day and when she is awake she only basks for half an hour or so, and looks really lifeless. Theres just something in her eyes that tells me something else is wrong. My idea other than coccidia is that she could have eye problems, as someone said that uv bulbs can sometimes slightly damage beardies eyesight or something, and sometimes when i hand feed her she bites my finger while going for the cricket. I have a 10.0 komodo uv tube which is on 12 hours and off 12 hours a day, with a non light emitting 300w ceramic heat bulb, in a 4ft long vivarium with bark substrate and plants for decor and hides etc. Also, she is about 8 months old, 16.5" length, and eats about 15-20 large crickets when offered 5 days a week with a calcium and d3 powder. All help is appreciated im really worried about her, as my male is totally fine (housed seperatley btw). Many thanks

Hi there....so is your male set up the exact same way ? I'm not familiar with the Komodo UVB...maybe it's the problem ? The other things that come to mind is that 1) It may be too hot if the ceramic heater is a 300 watt and your enclosure is not screen topped, trapping most of the heat. 2) It may be that she would perk up if you replaced the ceramic heater with a bright basking bulb of about 100 watts. Beardies like a bright cage, and if the only light in the cage is the UVB, it may be that it's just a bit too dreary in there. She might also be dehydrated....is she bathed regularly, and does she drink ? You can rule out impaction if she's eating 20 crix a day, but it might be that she accidentally eats a small piece of bark now and then....it may be good to replace the bark with tile. But it may possibly be the lighting, so if you can get a 100 watt household bulb, try that + see if there's a difference. You can also take her outside for 30 - 40 minutes a day.

Her tank is well ventillated amd always kept at only 34 degrees hot end and 29 in the cool end. I got the uv wrong, my male has the 10.0 komodo and my female has a 10.0 arcadia but my male has a ceramic heater of the same power as the female. She also gets bathed three of four times a week and eats fine, the bark is never a problem as ive seen her chew it and spit it out so she knows not to eat it, impaction is ruled out of the equation and i dont think that would make her tired and not active would it? Im not too sure. She poos frequently also. As it turns out I have a light fixture i could put in but household bulbs dont generate enough heat bc i tried that once :/ and i live in the uk, so we dont get a lot of sun, but when we do we take her outside and sit her on our lap, but she does seem kinda scared being outside.

Thanks for your help

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
