Beardie asleep before lights out?

Hey I tried to search but I'm having a tough time finding the right keywords for what I'm asking.

Basically, Mr. Spock is going to bed in his little house before lights out. I know the schedule is 12-14 In summer but he seems to have his own schedule. Up at 9am asleep at 8pm.

So the lights on uselessly on for 3 extra hours, I'm thinking about setting the timer to his schedule. What do you think?

Dixie is the same lights off at 8 pm but will settle for sleep at 7 pm some nights. I sometime switch it off at 730 pm or so but dont do it every night , like suggested just keep it on.

My girl Thane does the same thing. Sometimes she wants to go to sleep at 7:30pm when her lights don't go off until 9:30pm. I've had to block off her hide at times, so she can continue to get those UVB rays. I use a timer, though, and I love it. If I need to be somewhere else when her lights come on or turn off, I don't have to worry about being home to take care of it. The automaticity of it is nice.

ETA: Don't waste your money on the expensive ones at pet stores. They're **** anyway. i got one at Target for $7 and it works great.

Yeah luckily I already had a couple good timers on had

Mushu does same. He's used to being wrapped up in his blanket so he will go under his log an hour before lights out till we wrap him up
