bearded eye?

My beardie has been closing her left eye more recently and keeps her right one open. I’ve read that sand substrate can get in her eyes, i have sand substrate (but only in one corner that is closed in so it can’t spread everywhere) and i’ve tried the saline solution thing today to see if i can get any progress on this. she opens her eye every couple of mins, but when she closes it it’s like she pushes it back to close her eye lids together. Any idea what this can be? i will try to include some pics of the past week that i’ve taken of it

some of them are dark but that’s not how dark her eye really is , just the lighting my bad https://www.beardeddragon.org/media/24817/full

Hello,

Can you review the type/brand of UVB light you are using? Is it a compact/coil type
of light & how close is the UVB light to her?
Has she recently shed her face or head area perhaps? Sometimes shed can get stuck
on or in & around the eye lid causing irritation, etc. If the saline solution isn't working, you
can try getting some raw unpasteurized honey & thin it out with a warm water then using a
dropper or your finger just drop some into the eye. Just be sure it is a thin solution.

Also if your using any colored bulbs in the tank please get rid of them ---certain bulbs like colored and coils can cause eye irritation and cause all kinds of health issues

i don’t remember the brand of the bulb but it i’m pretty sure it was zoo med, if the bulb is hold could that be the issue? and i do not have any colored bulbs. and she has not shedded recently.

The UVB is it a long tube or a coil which would be in a dome? If you look on the bulb it will tell you the brand an bulb like wattage
You can take a pic and post

i’ve had her since may of this year, that’s also when i got her bulb. Could the bulb be old and affecting her eyes? this is the first time she’s been doing this with her eye, since i’ve put the saline solution it’s been open more but she still closes it when i try to look at it.

Please get rid of the red bulb--- they are harmful to the eyes and cause eye issues-- you need a bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 95-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer and a good UVB long tube in a fixture w/ a reflector- NO COILS please--- 40+ gallon tank a 24" fixture Zoo Med w/ a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 bulb

Hello,

Definitely change out the red basking bulb, it just isn't bright enough for him. I highly
recommend the Reptisun 10 tube or the Arcadia D3 12% or 14% tube, either the T8
or the T5. The T5 is a better quality bulb & has a longer life span.
How is he doing today?

my mom and i were looking at her eye together last night, it’s getting a little better, definitely after i put saline in it she starts to open more but she’ll still hold it closed sometimes. But for the most part she’s active and has normal poops, eats and gets her water, and she’s still v alert to when i enter the room too.

Hello,

That is good to hear that her eye seems to be getting better now. I would continue using the
saline solution for awhile, in case something might have gotten into the eye causing some
inflammation. Hopefully there isn't any infection going on either.
Keep us posted on her.

When you change out the red bulb to a bright white basking bulb it should notice a change in the eye as well or more change --- w/ proper lighting UVB and placement and distance and correct basking temps things should start to improve if not post back so we can help more

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
