Hello,
Okay well so for the past month my bearded dragon has been going through a lot. He has a thing where he is continuously opening his mouth, then exhaling really hard and his tongue pushes up. He has been to see a vet, had X-ray's (clear lungs), he was put to sleep so the vet could also look around deeper in his throat to see if something was blocking his esophagus but still nothing at all, she took a few samples of down his throat and will be running test to see is it something more microscopic like viral or bacterial giving she couldn't see anything when looking under a normal microscope. He has also had his poop tested as well and it came out normal. He was eating Critical Care and Carnivore Care a day when he stopped eating the first time we went to the vet. He started eating more and decided to go back in three weeks well for about two weeks he ate fine and normal super worms and crickets, he won't touch his greens at all and i have to give him baths so he can drink water, he poops fine now where as before he would only poop in the bath. So she did those test as i said the throat and another Xray. Anyways since he wasn't eating and dropped .20 she made me put him back on the carnivore and critical care, but i picked up some hornworms and he started eating again. So i grabbed some more and i put the super worms down thinking maybe he would eat those as well but no, only when i place those hornworms down does he go after them and actually eat. I know they aren't the best for him but thats all i can do to get him to eat cause i hate giving him the food supplements through the syringe. he usually gets 3-4 depending on how big or chunky the are and i coat them with the Rep-Cal Calcium with Vit.D, so he isn't missing anything that the hornworms don't provide. Well today he ate one and i would say it was a 2 1/2 to 3 inch worm and i sat him in his water to drink about an hour or two after, i go to get something come back to my room and he had thrown it all up, it was in whole not even chewed up. So i waited a little late and put down three more smaller about 2 to 2 1/2 inches and he swallowed those up. I just want to know is the hornworms causing him to throw up or was it just maybe a cuincidence that this happened. He has never ever done this before, i just am a little worried. Any help would be appreciated! by the way he lives in a 60 gal tank, with rep carpet, has a 150 UVA, UVB light and i make sure the temperature is around 90 -100 around his basking area. Also i really need his to gain some weight is there some other bugs that i can get him to put a fair amount of weight since he was lethargic for sometime and dramatically lost weight, and he wants nothing to do with crickets or super worms at this moment i have tried wax worms but he didn't care for them maybe ill try again, i was considering pinkies maybe? any suggestions would help as well thanks!
