Bearded dragon tail problem

Basically my babie bearded dragons tail has gone black and hard but only at the tip.also his tail seems to have slightly shrunk and the tip has gotten a bit thinner than the rest of the tail. I noticed it a day ago and was wondering what could have caused it and what is it. Any suggestions?

Could be tail rot. Your best bet is to just take him to the nearest reptile vet / herp specialist.

Post a pic for us. It could be something as simple as a retained shed. No need to rush him to the vet just yet. There are a few things you can do before that.

Hello,

It looks like he has a shorter tail now?
It is most likely retained shed, but if it appears to be infected & discolored it may be getting necrotic.
Are you soaking him daily to help if it is retained shed? You can use aloe vera gel or shea butter on his tail
to help with shedding.
Is it appearing to travel upward on the tail?

I agree with Drache613 it looks like he has a shorter tail anyway. My first dragon had the very tip of his tail harden, turn black, and fall off. It had seemed like the bit just died because there was no injury to his tail. Perhaps your dragons tail will do the same thing.

Like Drache613 said, if it appears to be getting necrotic that needs to be addressed. Regular baths are always good too

Yeah his tail has gotten shorther and it seems to curve up and the end even when he is asleep. I think it seems as if the end of his tail hasn't shedded and has become tight. Also today just of the tip some shed came off and like stopped as reached the tip. I have been giving him regular baths everyday and will continue to do so and see if he gets better

Can you get a closer and clearer picture of the tail? Perhaps a better visual will help.
