Bearded dragon tail concern

Hi... My bearded dragon is about 5 and a half inches long. I've had him/her for about a week. I don't know if it is a male or female because my beardie is too young to tell. Anyways lizard has sort of a kink in his/her tail. It's not like a bend it kind of looks like when you put a ponytail holder around your wrist and it leaves a mark. Of course I didn't put a ponytail holder on him lol, but he has two indentions on his tail and he's had them since I got him, but I think they might have gotten worse. I could just be paranoid, but does anyone know what it could be?

It could be some retained shed that isn't coming loose. Can you post some photos? You can upload photos here https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ and post them to your thread using the XIMG button.

You could try putting some plain aloe on the area to help moisten the skin a bit and maybe it will come loose. It could also be damage from a nip from a tank mate early in life which is also fairly common.

When you press the XIMG button when you reply it should provide a list of uploaded photos which you can choose. It will put code in the reply which will display the photo.

Just plain aloe with no additives should do the trick. If it has been that way for a while though it may either just stay that way or will eventually shrivel and fall off. As long as it heals over completely and the shriveled area doesn't travel further up the tail that's not harmful in the long run and is fairly common.

I'm not sure of the cause. It looks like it could be from a bite or possibly a shed. Go ahead and try the aloe and see if it helps (it shouldn't hurt at least). It may just remain crimped like that if there is still blood flowing to the tip of the tail.

Okay I'll see if I have any aloe and try it. His tail doesn't seem to bother or hurt him. If I touch it he doesn't react like it's hurting him. Hopefully it doesn't fall off... anyways thank you for the help and advice!

Yeah that should do the trick. It will help moisturize the skin and loosen it if it's a stuck shed. If it's a bite injury then it won't do much good. It shouldn't cause any harm to try it though. Either way I wouldn't worry too much.
