hi, I let my beardie roam free in the back yard this morning and i think he found and ate some roaches. I didn't know that until he spitted out a little roach with some red blood on it. The roach is still alive. I'm really worry that this might lead to infection inside his mouth. should I stop feeding for several days to make sure that the bleeding area is healed? should I feed him cactus leaves since it has antibiotic properties?

this is the roach that he spitted out (looks like dubia roach). there is blood stain on its upper left leg and on its back although they are not really visible in this picture.

Please help!! all advice and suggestions are much appreciated.

As long as he's willing to eat and doesn't have a visible wound or is bleeding from his mouth then you can still feed him. You might just use softer food for the next few days but there really should be no problem.

You're welcome. :) What size is your beardie , and where do you live that there would be roaches out + about ? You'll have to be careful when he's outside, there plants that are toxic [ not many, but there are some ] and a very few bugs as well. The one in the pic actually looks like a roly poly [ woodlice ] [ Which aren't toxic by the way ] and are actually edible.

thank goodness...that ease my mind a little bit. my beardie is 7 months old and he is 18 inches from snout to tail. I live in Southern California. there appears to be a lot more roaches after the big rain last night.
btw after I took him back inside to bask in the sun at my window, his beard turns black and he kept on bobbing his head without reason. Although he did that sometimes in the past, too. But he is doing that alot more today....i wonder if he is mad at me...

Looks like a Rolly Polly to me too, ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armadillidium_vulgare ) they are a type of isopod (which are crustaceans) and they breath with gills, actually, so they like it moist - sometimes they come out more when it rainy or wet and sca and around for food.

If you are concerned about a mouth injury, you could try peeking in his mouth if he opens it up to gape/eat something.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
