Bearded dragon shots

My bearded dragon recently had to get his tail amputated and the vet gave me a few shots for pain i have to give him in his leg. The vet made me try it once when i was there but he was all calm from the medicine they gave him so it was easy. Now when i try to do it he kicks and squirms i am having a very hard time doing it i havent been abe to do it yet, and i dont want to end up hurting him, does any one have any good tips ?

Shots are tough. I found it best to give them on the meatiest part of the leg/arm. Come in at an angle and come in with a bit of force so you pierce the skin under a scale quickly. Try to hold the leg still (best you can) with one hand will pushing the plunger with the other. Go slowly(ish) because pushing the plunger down too quickly may cause the needle to come out and medicine will go everywhere but in the leg. It's rough but it's over quickly and they tend to forgive and forget.

What medication is it? Some sting/burn, it wouldn't take long for your dragon to learn what your doing.
Wrap the dragon up with a towel, cover every part except the area your injecting. If your able, once the needle is in, aspirate the syringe by pulling back on the plunger a tad. It complicates things a bit, but although very rare you can hit a vein or artery. You don't want to inject into them. If you see any trace of blood in the syringe don't inject. Pick another site and try again.
