So I currently have a 2-3 month old beardie named Chihiro and she's been making interesting noises over the passed two days. I don't know how to quite describe it, but I've been digging around to see if it's a chirp or grunt. Unfortunately, there are like NO videos of beardies doing this that I can find to try and compare. Can anyone describe to me what their beardies do or link me to videos of what they might sound like? I'm pretty sure Chihiro is totally happy and healthy, so I think it's a behavioral thing, but I'll admit to still being a newbie at this Dragon Mom thing.

Hello,

They can make some crazy noises sometimes. Some don't make noises at all while others tend
to make all types of interesting noises.
It isn't a coughing/wheezing or coughing type of noise, like if she had a respiratory infection or
something of that nature, correct?
They can communicate like that. I am sure others will chime in with videos, etc to help you out
with that. It sounds like a behavioral or communication thing, most likely.

I'll admit I've never heard any of my guys ever make a noise, but have heard of other people swearing that their beardies do make noises regularly...what you have to be aware of is what Tracie has already mentioned, which is whether or not the sounds are coming from their chest, or rather could it be some form of a cough, wheezing, clicking or crackling, etc. and whether it happens when he is breathing. If it resembles any of those noises or seems to be related to his breathing, it may very well be the early sign of an upper respiratory infection. Those noises from beardies are very common and almost always indicate an URI developing. Also look for excess mucous in his mouth or liquid coming from his nostrils, this is often seen as thick strings of mucous when they open their mouths. If you think it may be at all related to any of these signs or symptoms then he needs to see an experienced reptile vet for cultures and treatment.

Otherwise it's probably just a noise he makes, you may just be one of the lucky ones that has a vocal beardie. I'd be suspicious of illness if this is a brand new thing that he has never done before, depending on how old he is, but if it's possible for you to take a video on your phone or digital camera of him making this noise, then uploading to YouTube and posting a link to the video, we can then listen to it and give our opinions of it...

I haven't heard wheezing, thank god. It's more of a chirp(?) she seems to make it when she's in my hands so maybe it's an indicator that she's happy, but I'm not sure

Lucky and Wriggles (not beardies but eastern water skinks) made little almost inaudible barking sounds (you might describe as churps) when they were having a load of fun (crawling all over me) ,and squeeks like a mouse when they had needles or oral antibiotics (not happy / upset or ouch!).
The BTs make similar sounds occasionally.

I think they learn this vocalization behavior or it's kinda like with cats , cats only meow when with / about humans.

My beardie makes a weird noise with her mouth, like when she's on my shoulder and I can really hear her, she will make a noise through her mouth like she's blowing, like a little snap of her mouth when she opens it to let the air out, its super weird but she doesn't look distressed when she does it. Hopefully is a way to express being totally relaxed

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
