Hi guys,
I was given a young male BD last year that was rescued from a pet shop that was closing down and basically starving their remaining livestock that they couldn't sell. He was in a terrible state when rescued but has since made huge improvements over the last 12 months. The person who saved the beardie couldn't keep him which is how he ended up with me. Initially my biggest problem was not knowing much about BD's as I've never owned a reptile before, but I read up as much as I could (which is how I found this website, and a lot of what I've learned has come from here so thank you to everyone) and went about getting him the right setup asap.
It's taken me a while to get everything sorted but here's what I have so far (by no means is it a finished product yet), I would really appreciate if any of you more experienced BD keepers could have a quick look and tell me what you think, and if you see anything wrong please let me know.
Thanking you all in advance!
Tristan.
Additional info - The viv is 150x70x50 cm, the UVB has a 10.0 output (on for 12 hours a day), the basking area has a white day bulb (100W) and his basking spot is 41 degrees Celsius (12 hours a day), he has blue night bulb (60W) and his basking spot goes down to 25 degrees Celsius (12 hours a day). The cool side of his viv ranges around 15 to 20 degrees depending on the time of year (I'm in Ireland). The lights are all on timers so there's no inconsistency to his light and temperature routine.
