Bearded dragon loves the rain

I want my beardie to know what the outside is like so I took him out in the warm spring rain a bit yesterday (on leash of course). He was super stoked. He had this look like I had released a thousand dubia roaches or something. Haha. He didn't want to go back inside either.
I had taken him out into the sun a few times already and he kinda sits on my lap, content. But the rain was like he wanted to go out and eat it or something haha. Don't worry I didn't let him eat any of the rain puddles but he may have licked some off his face when it fell on his nose.
Any idea why he was so interested in the rain? What do wild bearded dragons do when it rains in the wild anyways? I imagine rain is rate in the outback so they might want to go out and collect it on their face and drink it or something.

As far as I know, in the wild they stand up on their legs and tail, tilt their head down, and funnel the rain to their mouth so they can lick up the water. That's why I usually recommend dripping water on their nose to provide extra hydration. It could have been a combination of him enjoying the rain and having a drink, and curiosity experiencing something new and interesting. I'm glad he enjoyed his time in the rain!
