It all started when I had two baby dragons in the same enclosure until I could separate them and biggie started to close his eye often during the day then after a couple days it started to swell up! I split them up as soon as I seen the other dragon nipping at biggie and scratching! I'm guessing his eye happened when the other one bite at him! Iv been putting Terramycin in his eye 3 times a day and it looked like it was getting better and now his eye is droopy and swollen still! It's usually more swollen when I put the medicine in his eye! Can anyone help on what else I can do with out having to pay a major vet bill? I have attached some photos!

Hi there, something similar happened to one of my babies as it was hatching. It evidently was scratched in the incubator by a sibling + came out with a very swollen eye that was just showing a tiny slit. I used raw, unpasteurized honey on it mixed with a few drops of warm water [ makes it easier to apply ]

Raw honey is a natural antimicrobial and it took the swelling down in a few days. I applied it 2-3X a day with a Q-tip....or you can try an eyedropper but soaking the end of a Q-top worked for me.

BTW, can you post pics of your entire set up including lights. And do you by chance have any loose substrate [ like sand ] that could also be irritating the eye now ?

I did have him on sand but I changed that about a week ago! I have a repti sun 10.0 tube, basking bulb and the temp are around 100 on the hot side and 80-85 on the cool side! He eats regular and is still very active! Seems like he can't see much out of that eye though!

There may be a speck of sand in it but not necessarily. You might try rinsing it with plain saline [ not for contact lenses ] and then apply the honey.

Yeah I use the repti rinse and I applied some raw honey tonight! Is this the right kind of honey? I attached some pics!

Yes, that's the right kind. Any honey that is raw + not pasteurized contains lots of antimicrobial properties. That's good on any kind of wound, on yourself or your pet. When you apply it to a cut it heals so well you barely see a scar. Unpasteurized honey is even being use in a children's hospital for cancer patients with wounds that won't heal in Bonne Germany.

When using it in the eye, just warm up a bit of water [ not the honey itself ] and add a few drops of warm water to the honey, that makes it more liquidy so it can be put in the eye more easily .

So if it is a infection the honey will help with that? How long should I do this for until I know it's not gonna work and I need to go to the vet?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
