Bearded Dragon Dental Exam

Hello, I have a 6 month old bearded dragon that seems to be pretty healthy. She eats quite a bit and devours greens as much as insects. I was taking a look at her teeth while she was basking and noticed that she has dark brown staining near the gum line. I think the staining occurred because she does not drink water and the food probably just sits on her teeth without being rinsed away. When I took a closer look I was more concerned about the tissue behind her last tooth. Does it look inflamed to anyone else or does my pointy friend look healthy?

I agree it's common for some of them to have discolorations around the gums. Chewing on bugs with tougher shells like dubia roaches can help with this. If you're concerned, you can also try rubbing some MaxiGuard gel on her teeth & gums with a q-tip. This is a cleansing gel that may be helpful and prevent infection if there is an issue.

Hello,

I agree, it is pretty normal to have some discoloration on their teeth & gum lines. As suggested, Maxiguard is starting to be more widely used to help with mouth issues.
Her gums look healthy to me.
Is she eating well?
