Bearded Dragon Blankets and hammocks

I have a question for all Bearded dragon lovers! My daughter has 4 bearded dragons now. I have been sewing soft cuddly blankets for her to wrap her beardies in at night. I am starting a shop on etsy.com to sell some of my creative sewing ideas. It has been brought to my attention from my daughter, that bearded dragon lovers would love some of my homemade blankets. I can post pictures and let you know where you can purchase them soon. I am still creating those beautiful blankets. So what do you think, would any of you be interested in them?

Oooo interesting, I would love to see them. Since I'm a crafty person, I've been mulling around the idea of customized blankets too. :wink: I'm sure yours are better then anything I could come up with!

I was planning to start my own little beardie/reptile craft line on etsy as well, mainly focusing on figures/jewelry and stuff of the like.

I'm still very new at this but what I've read has all said to keep them away from fabrics due to their nails getting caught in it. I would think that something like terry cloth would be a bad idea due to the loops used to make it. I guess my question is are the fabrics woven tightly enough for them not to get hooked?

I hope to have pictures of a variety of blankets posted by this weekend. I prewash my fabric. I use flannel, fleece, and my daughter really likes a fabric that is a short pile fur with dimples in it. It is very soft, and her beardies love to snuggle in it. I have sewn blankets with all these types of fabrics, and her beardies have no problems with their nails getting stuck in the fabric. I recently sewed a burlap hammock for her bearded dragons. They love them! I will post pictures of these as well. I thank my daughter for her inspiration for these wonderful creative projects I have been creating. Will post pictures and website soon.

I think blankets for beardies is a great idea! I bought fabric to make blankets and sleeping bags for my guinea pigs. I haven't done it yet because I don't have a clue how to sew but I wanted to learn! I really need my mother in law to come down to Miami to show me!!! Well my point is that I wanted to make Samson a blanket too but for now since I don't know how to do it I would rather buy him a blanket! I am going to check out your pics on etsy.

Those are very cute blankets and hammock. I am new to beardies and am hoping to get my first one in the next few weeks! I've been doing a lot of research but didn't see anything talk about them snuggling up in blankets until I came across this site tonight. Do they cuddle up all night? Do you put them in the blankets in or out of their cage?

Well, the 'models' are my dragons, and they love their blankets.

Every night when the dragons are ready for bed, they choose where to settle down. Once they show they are ready, we take them out, and wrap them up in the good ole fashion 'beardie burrito'. They stay in the blankets all night, and usually don't want to get up in the mornings.

Even after turning the lights on, they'll stay snuggled up in the blankets half of the time, unless we actually intervene and take them out.




@ Omunall - I haven't had any issues with blankets for any size of my dragons. We have one that is just over 9 inches that is already going to her blanket at night on her own.
