Hi there I got my male bearded dragon Willie Nelson yesterday afternoon and on the car ride home he just climbed my shirt then sat there on my shoulder for the 30 minute ride, seems to be friendly. I've noticed that his beard seems to always be fairly dark. Yesterday it turned BLACK once and he was bobbing his head (I think he saw himself in the glass) flared his beard and was acting territorial. His tummy looks to be fine no stress marks. I left some super worms and arugula and spinach dusted with calcium in his bowl this morning and he has eaten all of it. I also let out 4 crickets in his enclosure at about 4:30 and he ate one that walked by him. He looks healthy to me. I'm just wondering why his beard is always dark? It always looks a pale grey. I believe he is a translucent. He is about a year old. He lets me pet his head and back no problem. I want to pick him up but I don't want to stress him out. Any suggestions on how to help with his reflection (white walls and glass front, I tried a blanket and it seemed to help a bit with the black beard and being territorial but I want to see him), and why he is this colour would be greatly appreciated. The basking photo with his mouth open was taken last night and second taken today.
