BD tried to jump onto rock in backround photo . .

Hello,
I am a new beardie owner and new to the group, I have had my little spike for about a month now, I just recently put up a backround photo in my viv so i couldn't see the light cords anymore. Just shortly after I put it up Spike climbed on his hide rock and then stared at the backround and all of a sudden :shock: I see him try to jump to another rock in the backround and he slammed into the glass. . . ouch ! I think he's okay and he hasn't done it again, so I am thinking about taking the backround down . . . Anyone ever have this happen???

My baby does this all the time, I thought she was just crazy, but now I see she is not alone.

I've heard of other bd's trying to leap into their background pictures. If he keeps doing it, you may have to take it down, but hopefully he'll have learned from this experience!

I had a background on Waffles, and the first day that I put it there, he tried to jump to the rock. He did this for a day or 2, then stopped.
Then later I got Foster, and put him in Waffles old house with that same background. Foster did the same thing. Took him a couple of days, then he figured it out too.
It was kind of amusing to watch.

I have had the background for a couple of weeks, and DJ still trys to jump in, it is way too funny to watch. Sometimes she'll get on her hammock and try to jump that way. It doesn't seem to hurt her, so I figure it was ok to leave it up.

It's a strange thing they do lol, he tries to run along side it like he is truing to run off into to horizon, its too cute!!! Thank goodness I am not alone

Turbo never tried to jump but he did stare at it all day long when I put it on, and then later that night after taking him out and then putting him back in his tank, he was running back and fourth along the length of the tank trying to go through the glass into the background picture. I have to admit it was kind of funny >.<

LOL... puff did this when I first got her in her new viv and it has a rock back ground.... she has tons of different size rock in her viv but will sit at the wall and stare at it then try her hardest to climb it ... it is so funny watching her.... she will also every now and then try to take a bite of her fake leaves.... here are a few pics of her in her viv... it is a L shaped viv...

Lol I don't get it, i wanted to show a photo of the backround too to everyone and my little guy!!!! He is standing on his log but the rest is fake!! Let me see if i can find a better photo

Ha!!! Here is another photo of his setup, he is on the log and there is one real rock the rest is the backround!!! So basically he tried to jump from the Real rock to one of the ones in the photo too funny, thankgoodness he has stopped, but since putting the backround in he seems to be a lot more active!!! Anyway here is the photo!!!

I'm so glad I found this post. "Godzilla" has been spending most of her time the last few weeks trying to climb her background. Its the same background she's had for the last year and a half but she didn't use to do this. I was worried because she does it no-stop sometimes. She stands on her back feet and just scratches at the glass. From this post I'm thinking I shouldn't worry but is it really okay with as much as she is doing it? She has a hollow half log to hide in as well as a long cactus I keep on its side for her to climb on but she is obsessed with the background.

find her some rocks, dont know where u live, but here in AZ, i went out and got rocks on mountains and in the desert.... soaked them in bleach and water for 24 hours and rinsed them alot till no smell on them... puff loves her rocks and she climbs around on the and jumps from one to the other..she climbs her rock wall and hangs there...

I will get some rocks and see. I've been looking into getting a rock wall but her tank is built horizontally, so while its really wide, its not very tall. I'll try out the rocks and see what happens. Thanks for the advice.

When I get a bigger tank for his adult size I am going to Build my little guy a giant rock wall and sand pit. I can't wait!!!
