BD poop stains rock structure

I made my whole rock enclosure and all of that for my viv, put about 4-5 coats of mod podge over every area and let it dry for a good week. My BD pooped on the rock structure for the first time today. It stained it really, really bad. It now looks bad and this is only one time. What did I do wrong and what can I do to make it so it doesn't stain?

It is acrylic paint w/ mod podge sealant over it. Would that rock texture spray paint be better? Any help is appreciated. See attached picture to see what I'm talking about.

For what it's worth...the white area has turned a dark purple now the same as the other areas. Still...not pretty.

Thats strange I've never ha mine turn purple, and I used mod podge + acrylics just like you.

Although I probably did 10 layers of the mod podge lol.

There isn't really anything you can do about it I don't think, besides repainting over it and then resealing.

This is why I always recommend people not to make their whole floor out of this as a substrate (I know you didn't, I am just saying lol) I say this is what could happen but they never believe me! lol.

Try using Mod Podge Hard Coat instead of the regular stuff... It is more water resistant!

Although I never even had my normal Mod Podge stain that badly! Weird. I only use 2-3 coats of it though, so I wonder if the thickness has anything to do with whether or not it stains.

Id Mod Podge Hard Coat the Spray? Does Walmart carry it? I had a hard enough time finding regular mod podge liquid since I don't live near the city (or a hobby lobby).

No, it's in the jar like the regular kind. I think Walmart would have it, but I got mine at Michael's.

Fluffy's rock structure was colored grout with mod podge over it. I did three coats. It didn't stain as badly as what your picture is showing, but it definitely stained. The other problem I had was that I didn't get as aggressive in cleaning the rock structure as I wanted to. I was always afraid it wasn't going to hold up to serious water spraying and bleach solution.

Well I am in the process of re-doing the whole thing. I have painted it with that textured stone paint and am putting 3 slightly watered down layers of regular mod podge followed by a couple layers of mod podge outdoor. I am hoping this fixes my issues since the stone paint will hide better and the outdoor mod podge is supposed to be much more resistant. It is just taking the Mod Podge Outdoor a really long time to fully dry. It is still slightly tacky but getting better with time. Bottle says 72 hours after last application.

After my last layer of mod podge, I covered the entire thing in reptile sand, then brushed it heavily with a dry paint brush to remove anything that wasn't stuck on. I've had no problems with staining, and he poops on it all the time. I also only did 3 layers of mod podge (first one brushed on thick, last two thinned out and applied via spray bottle).
