Baths

Hey All!

I've read about beardies loving their baths....mine doesn't seem to care for them.. When I first got him as a baby he was dehydrated and seemed to be ok with it then. (water temp between 82-92 F) He really never wanted to play in it, though - drank some of the water, but I think that was a symptom of the dehydration. Now he's a super healthy guy and wants nothing to do with them. I keep trying and I mist him down which he seems to enjoy.

Anyone else have a beardie that would just a soon stay out of the water?

Not all of them do like baths. I don't advise forcing them on dragons who don't like them because it can be quite stressful for them. I'd only give them a bath if they get soiled and need it. You can keep offering extra hydration simply by misting or dripping water on their nose so they can lick it up if they want to.

I agree with Cooper. Baths are not necessary unless the dragon is soiled. Some people I know give theirs a bath daily. One lady I keep trying to tell her not to do it because it can actually cause problems. Aspiration pneumonia is one of the more dangerous things that can happen. Obviously drownding is the most dangerous...but that only happens if your very careless.
