Im curious on bathing techniques? I bath my little one in an old high side litter pan (thoroughly cleaned and only used once which my moms cat never pottied in anyway) and put a towel in the bottom for grip. Makes my baby feel much safer. But the water gets cool within 3 mins or so and I remove the little one and towel off and put them back in the enclosure. My baby just started drinking from the bath so I am excited about that.

I just see alot of posta about longer bath times and was curious how do you keep the water warm for longer? Do you just take them out refresh and put them back in? It sounds stressful on them :/ am I just really dense?

Its just part of the thermal dynamics of a small amount of water. It can cool off easy. There really is no need to give them long baths. Just accomplish what you wish to accomplish and take them out :)

If your dragon likes to swim around you can always top it off with more warm water. It's easier to do in a sink of sorts where you can easily drain and refill. Or a tub. But that being said, if they like the bath they wont mind too bad if the water slowly gets cooler :)

I use a non-contact thermometer and try to keep the dragon or skink bath water a nice balmy 32 degC , start off with cold water , and add hot tap water little at time from a recycled drink bottle until the temperature is where I want it.

Zap it every now and again with thermometer and add a dribble more as it gets cool.

Mind you , my dragons very rarely see the bath. Caesar and Cleo who joined the family in March have not seen the bath since about May. They've not needed it so no point stressing them unduely.

I have developed a probably weird and different bath time because my dragon willingly stays in water as long as it is warm. We don't bath often, every week or every other week, but she will stay in water for 30 minutes sometimes, usually 15-20 minutes.

I bought an XL metal paint tray. New, never been used for paint. I like that there is a deep and shallow end. I can put a towel down for grip. I heat up the metal pan with very hot tap water in the tub, letting the hot water overflow the tray a few minutes. I use a probe thermometer to measure the water while she is in the bath, keeping it between 90°F to 100°F. I add some hot water if needed. The bath is in the floor so she can go in and out when she wants. She is a weirdo who likes the bath.I sit on the floor by the bath to supervise.

Awww that sounds awesome! Never thought of a metal try. Nor warking the pan before hand. May try that next time. I only bath for shedding though baby just stwrted drinking out of it so we will do it weekly now. We stopped for a bit due to concerns with breathing which seem to be better now. Thanks all for the replies!

For hatchlings under 3 months old and small skinks , I like to use a Décor Tellfresh 1.5L shallow oblong tub for bathing them , is not too high for them to climb out when they've had enough.

For my adult bearded dragons I use a flat bottomed plastic baby bath.

All the bathing happens either on the lounge room floor, or the lounge next to me, on the coffee table.

My water skinks willingly bath themselves and have been known to spend ages in their "warmed pond" in their share 120L tub. ( They love to fully submerge themselves and it's clear they love the warmed water as they often climb straight back in if I take them out .)
The BTs love a bath in the baby bath but only get a bath when in shed.

The bearded dragons , only very occasionally. Caesar and Cleo haven't had a bath since about June.

Lots of good info added already. I use a turkey roasting pan as a bathtub. I fill it elbow (dragon's not mine) high with water that feels warm on the inside of my wrist. It does cool off quickly and sometimes I'll scoop and replace with warmer water. I often set the pan up under the kitchen basking light so that keeps him pretty warm. Baths still don't tend to last more than about 10 minutes at most though. Just enough to (sometimes) take a drink, clean up, swim around a little, then dry off.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
