Does anyone's dragon doze In the tub? Water is warm. I put Silver in the tub. She holds herself up with front right foot and floats the other 3 legs. I rub under her chin and her eyes close and head droops. Water is just up to shoulders. I have to pour it by hand over her upper back. After the water cools I wrap her in a towel on my shoulder and she pancakes sound asleep. I usually do this 7:00 or 7:30 and put her to bed. Her belly is totally white and she has yet to poop in the tub. She seems to love this or am I misreading this? She is 9. 1/2 inches approx 40 grams. was told she is +/- 6 mos old.

my anxious and aggressive rescue (who, for reference, doesn't like being handled, has bitten on several occasions, and is really jumpy) LOVES bath time. it's like a spa day for her. she closes her eyes and just floats there. and she loves when i drip water over her head. she's ONLY calm in the bath. though when she's done, she flails around till i pick her up, but she does allow me to wrap her in a towel and cuddle her for a little while before putting her back in her tank to warm up.

for your beardie, i would recommend doing bath time at least 30 minutes before bed time though so your beardie can bask and dry off completely.

Today she had her bath at 4:00. Snowy Saturday...not a work day. Cuddled her for about 45 min. Then we do weights and measure. She is 9 1/2 inches and 42 grams. It does seem odd to bathe a desert animal but she loves it.

*chuckles* Well, desert isn't exactly accurate - it's hot and the air is arid, but they're big fans of streams.
I once took Tsam for a walk to the park on his leash. He dived into the pond, paddled under the waterfall and sat grinning with it drumming on his head. (And then pooped in it. But shhhh!)

I didn't think they could submerge their heads. I only let Silver in up to her shoulders. Hope by summer time she'll want to go out on a leash. If Tsam was a dog you'd get a ticket! lol

Thanks for sharing those. You'd think Archer would be the difficult one. Well I'm just glad Silver loves them. She is very mellow and loves to be handled. She loves to be rubbed under the chin. That's what makes her doze in the tub with one front foot holding her up. Maybe I'll give her a little head wash next time...Was worried about the eyes ears nose etc.

How often do you bathe them?

Yeah, Tsammy loves his baths. If I'm just having a soak rather than a washing bath (IE, without soaps etc), I'll often let him hop in when I'm done. The deeper water gives him the opportunity to have a dive - he skims along the floor like a crocodile, blowing bubbles :D
Don't worry, he has climbing spaces to get out for when he's done swimming and I give him a good towel off in his burrito. :)

How do they learn to swim and dive? I only put the water in a plastic bin up to Silver's shoulders. How did you transition them?

*laughing* I didn't. I run a bath to their shoulder normally, in our proper people-bath.
Some dragons prefer to wander around (Hyphen and Mocha - Mocha particularly likes tasting the water from different areas of the bath. The water near another dragon's tail or hands is the most tasty she reckons.), some like to swim like crocodiles with their tails swishing (Sandy - but only if she thinks she has to - and Jam - Jam likes to chase small locusts in the bath.) and Tsam takes it one step further - he just doesn't bother to stay afloat when he picks his feet up, preferring to pick up speed and go flying along the bottom. Weirdie beardie!

Who doesn't like a nice warm bath? :)
Clearly she finds it relaxing and she likes early nights.

My little enzo hates bathes with a passion. When i put her in she thrashes about for several minutes until she gives up with a big sigh. regains her strength and goes at it again for a few minutes.

Ah, sounds like you have a hydrophobic dragon. Kyle was like that for nearly two years - but you can train them out of it.

Start off with less water, preferably in a big, clear bowl so she can see the surroundings she recognises. Put a cloth in the bottom for grip. Once in, if she stays in, give her a nice treat. If she jumps out, wait three seconds and put her back in. Be patient, be persistent.

Once she's fine with the bowl, you can upgrade to the bath, and then gently increase the depth to shoulder height. She'll learn, most are quite bright :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
