Basking Temps correct and far enough away from beardie?

hello! I am taking to the internet for feedback on this one. I recently purchased a new basking rock which is magnetic and it has a slope so Mushu (my beardie) can climb higher if he desires. I used a thermometer gun from Amazon to check the temps and it read 127?! which I know is not true! I kept my hand under there for a while and it didn't feel like it at all! The material is a type of styrofoam and I don't know if that affects the temp readings. so i used a thermometer with a probe (yes I know probably not the most accurate) and it is reading 108-110. Is that too hot for my 5-month-old beardie? The basking spot is about 6-9 inches away from the bulb depending on if he wants to get higher to it. it is a 150w since I have a 55-gallon tank. and I was wondering if that is too close? and will he burn himself? I would really really appreciate the feedback!

<<< yes -- way too hot

Check the temperatures using one of these :

It is very likely you are not taking the temperatures "properly" , if you are there are three possibilities
1) the noncontact thermometer is bad (not properly calibrated / faulty / emissivity compensation is set wrong), here is how check this :
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=241233
and
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=239064&p=1833542#p1833542
and
viewtopic.php?p=1819655

or

2) the termperatures are right and MUST BE REDUCED IMMEDIATELY to SAFE LEVELS.
See this for why : viewtopic.php?f=5&t=233516

or

3) You are mistakenly measuring the temperature of the reflection of the basking globe or the sun as see by the non-contact thermometer , this is a systematic error known as specular error. (Even expert engineers and scientists and thermographers fall for this one very frequently.)

I would immediately unplug the current basking globe and do tests using a temporary OUT OF TANK test rig and make sure I know exactly how far the above the basking spot the globe needs to me to have a basking spot at NO HOTTER THAN 100degC and warm zone in the low 90s (Farenheit).

<< an adult bearded dragon can easily reach 9 inches if it decides it wants to "check" out something (and my experience is bright globes are irresistibly interesting to them.
It only takes an instant for lizard to bump or pat or touch a basking globe to inflict extremely serious burns - the surface of these globes gets very hot.
A basking globe under 12 inches from a basking spot must be made untouchable (by enclosing it in a wire cage).

The basking bulb is above his mesh! I would never let him even have the chance to try and get remotely near it!! He hasn't been acting any different ( no changes in diet or behavior ) So i am assuming, it is okay.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
