Basking temp problem

Al need to buy a dimmer switch when a get paid. Ave stoped using thermostat tjis morning, baskings at 100f and cool end 75f. Am using a 100w basking bulb, gawni see wait couple of hours to see what tenps say. Ave got a 150w aswell am gawni see what that goes up2 without using thermostat.

How are you measuring the temps, if its a probe be sure to leave it in place for 30 min before taking the reading!

How much was the dimmer switch and where can u pick one up from? I kind of have the same problem as a 75W bulb puts off to little heat and a 100 puts off to much lol. A dimmer would solve that problem in a snap!

Am using probe thermometer to check my temps. 1 at basking and 1 in cool end. A was using stick on thermometers a while back but their crap,Way of with reading of temps.
With your dimmer how do u wire up to bulb? Isint it just a round nobe? If a use my 100w its to low and if a use my 150w its way to high. When ave went in today temps were to low! Basking 98f and cool 72f. Thts with my 100w without thermostat. What kind eh dimmer u use? Need to get 1 quick.

Mines a habistat thermostat, although i live in UK and not sure if they do them elsewhere. it was around £22 (about $34)

Ave got 2 thermostats in house, when a use the dimmer thermostat a cant get temps high enuf with 100w? If a switch to my 150w its way to high? Cant seem to get right temps shldni be this hard to set up viv for beardie! But justcant get right temps.

it was only a few quid i think. Wiring was also easy once you know which wires are what, if your not sure just ask one of the sales team to help you (all the switches are a little different, for example i kept the blue (neutral) intact and split the live, one attached to the input, one attached to the out put.) make sure to get a back for it also, that way you can mount it to the side of the tank (and not electrocute yourself as i once did).

Once thats done you can pop the 150 w in and dimm it down to get the right temp.

At this time of year i have a CHE bulb to bump up the temps those extra few degrees. My house is a chilly 12C this morning (around 50's) but my tank is nice and stable at the correct temps!

Seen a dimmer on ebay so gawni buy it. A went to reptile shop today and as a droped n broke my 100w bulb! got another basking bulb, arcadia halogen 75w.So am using that just now,the woman in shop says 100w should of been enuf for my temps to reach required temp? Still cant get temps right tho? Even with this 75w my basking away up2 128f and cool 70f. A cant seem to get basking down n cool end up. Ave tried using with and without thermostat but no joy. Am currently using thermostat as basking goes away up2 140fsh without it (Basking side) . A started with probe from thermostat in middle of viv at the back but temp to hi. So a moved it closer n it went down a bit but cool end was still to low?

Ave manage to get my basking to 105f but my cool end is at 70f. How can a get my cool end up but keep basking same.
