Basking spot help

I got a new 48Lx19Wx24T and Im having trouble heating the basking spot. It gets up to the upper 80s. Definately too low. Its about 9 inches from the screen where the lamps are sitting on. Is the screen disrupting the heat from heating the surface? Should I cut a hole in the screen? What to do?

Maybe just get a higher wattage bulb? Or maybe the spot a little higher up?
Not too sure of the screen would disrupt temperature that drastically.

What size bulb are you using??

In my 4x2x2 I have a 150 watt bulb for the basking (with a thermostat) hammock and another 100 watt un the middle for general temps during a northeast USA winter and my temps are right on.

9" is plenty close, actually depending on your UVB light and, it's position it could be too close.
What type of UVB do you have (specific details "very important")???
What wattage is the basking bulb presently?

Light type and, position are critical to proper digestion and, prevention of health problems!!!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
