Basking light when Jimmy is at the window????

Hi!!!!

My Jimmy loves to look out of the window at all the leaves falling from the trees. I put a platform/ramp from the sil to the back of the couch for him (one time he jumped and missed the sil and ended up behind the couch). But our window is drafty....is it okay to hang his basking light above him while he is at the window?

Yeah you can set up a portable basking light over the window if you want. Just make sure it's secured well and is set at a distance that provides appropriate temps. I used a portable basking spot in my living room for when my guys were out and about and it worked well. For the most part they learned to return to it when they got cold.

Thanks so much....it's nice to have him around us more. We have it in our floor lamp and it has an adjustable arm that holds bulb. He seems to enjoy it. And will move when he is warm enough. Has anyone ever used a heating blanket or throw?

I've let them dig into fleece blankets before but found the best way to keep them warm is to hold them up to my chest or to use a portable basking light. I would worry about using an electric blanket because they can get pretty hot.

Yeah he usually lays on my chest. He just has a fit when it's time to put him back into his tank. So I was trying to figure out some ways to keep him warm. And because the basking light is so bright it disturbs when we watch tv. Lol
