Basking flood light

So I bought a zoo med 75w basking bulb for my 20l ta k for my baby and it doesn't seem to get hot enough (waiting on temp gun to be delivered).

I went out and got some indoor/outdoor flood lights to try. I think a 75w would likely work well. Now the par38 bulbs I got say 90w equivalent but it's actually a 72w will that work or will it be too hot? I also got a 75w equivalent that uses 52w but it's a p30l which I believe is a wider bulb.

How are you determining temps right now? What are they saying the temp is? If it's one of those stick on analog thermometers they can be wildly inaccurate so you may or may not have a problem with temps. They also only tell the air temps and not basking temps anyway so the temp gun is definitely the way to go. Sometimes you can judge by the way your dragon is acting. Does it bask under the light you're using now? 75 watt should be good enough for a 20 gallon tank which will need to be upgraded eventually. Those flood lights get pretty hot, it should be a halogen and those burn hotter than incandescent bulbs. I would be worried they will be too hot in a 20 gallon. I would continue using the zoo med 75 watt and wait until your temp gun comes.
