basking angle

Not sure if this question belongs here or in enclosures but, i see a lot of pictures here in which the dragon is basking on it's tree or rock and the said basking area is on an angle. I would say the majority i have seen are set up this way with a few basking pods that are set up horizontal. Is there a reason for this or is it just a personal preference?

Hi Frank,

I think it's however the owner wants to set up the viv. As far as I know there is no special reason they are at a slant. My Rex has a flat basking rock, but she also has a large piece of driftwood that goes up at an angle and she loves to hang out on that. I guess it's nice that the beardie doesn't have to be in a horizontal position at all times...that would be rather boring, don't ya think?

So any news on getting a beardie.....aren't ya getting antsy ???

I tried a flat basking spot for Boga for about a week, she didn't care for it. It seems that she can regulated her temps better if she can move up and down the basking plank, so I changed it back to a slant.
