Bairly eating...tired of same old food?

Well to start off a little background info cause i know someones gonna ask

He's 5 months old, lives in a 30"x12"x12" viv, has reptisun 5.0 and temp are 105/78

I give him a fresh salad 2 times a day baths every other day most of the time unless i am busy them its a little less sometimes, and he poops daily on average

Alright now that that's over with here my problem, my beardie used to eat like up to 2 dozen crickets a day sometime much more and a little of his salad, but lately he has been eating maybe 5-8 crickets a day, and the only time i see him eat them is if i hold one in front of his face for like 2 min then he'll finally eat it. Could this be because he is Bord with them? because when i put them in he seems completely uninterested.

And my other question which i just though of right now, could the 5.0 UVB be causing his lack of appetite? i mean other then not eating he's the same energetic little dude...

Hello,

Overall, your setup is fine. What type of thermometer are you using currently, a stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Yes, the Reptisun 5 tube bulb is a great bulb, but, the decay rate is faster than with the Reptisun 10 because the UVB output is lower with the 5 than it is with the 10.
I do not think he is trying to brumate quite yet, he is slightly too young. However, some do tend to start slowing down upon the winter months though. I would go ahead & order the Reptisun 10 tube bulb to see if that helps him out.
How often are you using calcium supplementation for him? He needs it 5 times per week right now in his 1st year since he is still growing.

this sounds like exactly what is happening with my little falcor! she/he is about 6-7 months old (could be older or younger, pet store said he was about 2 months old when we got him)

he went from an eating machine to just seeming bored with everything, eats his veggies, but is getting reaaaally picky with the live food. i'm glad he' still eating at least, but he eats on an every other day cycle. he'll pig out and eat a bunch one day, then the next seems uninterested in things.

i'm thinking its winter, because everything else seems fine.

do the bearded dragons eat differently as they age?

boy these guys make me a nervous wreck!!!!!

yea def sounds like were in the same boat, like yesterday he ate all his veg but not one cricket, and magically today when i got home from work all the crickets and veg i left him before hand were completely gone, and he was sleeping right up near where the viv opens in a "Let me outa here" look to him, so i took him out for a while, and when i put him back in he went to town on like 6 crickets and that was it... u might be right with the winter thing... guess only time will tell :roll:

thats good, falcor wont even eat crickets anymore, only very rarely, i dont think he-she likes them anymore. she eats phoenix worms, and likes dubia roaches, i have to pick her up some more of those.
she just doesnt eat as much as she used to. oh well, maybe her stomach gets full easier than other beardies, and could be more sensitive than other also. of course, i have to get a beardie with expensive tastes, maybe falcor is a female after all...LOL...!!!!! (kiddin of course everyone!)
