bad reptisun 10...

I just bought one of those for my new juvie bearded sits under it on rock and keeps eyes closed mass majority of the time. Bought with desert starter came with two housings temps are now 80 on cold side need a 3rd to house the white spot that came with it. is it ok to run all 3 black light, reptisun, and white light that came with it all 14 then just black light for 10 hours? Running both that came with it at same time is only way to achieve 100° and then blk at night for about 70° . Hes in a entertainment center with a glass paneled cabinit would light shining through when brother leaves house lights on while getting ready for school effect him negativly? Not alot coming through because heater in front of cabinit but noticed it was chillin with eyes open about 6 hours through its night cycle when it normally doesnt move and sleeps till I turn it back on. Sorry if I jacked your thread with questions just concerned bout my new pet addition and recently upped questioning post of my own. Thanks for any replies.

I am curious to your question as well but more so to the exo terra sun glo 100w bulb for basking. I was using one of them on my juvie cuz I was having a hard time maintaining basking temps in my 125g tank. I noticed also that Tigger was squinting and closing his eyes ALOT with that bulb. I changed it out and he seems better. I will follow this thread as I dont think its the reptisun tube causing it.

i notice my bearded dragons eyes closing every now and then for about 10 seconds never more is the reptisun bothering him ?

How old is your dragon? It might just be with the wintertime, he's getting more sleepy. I have a dragon who's close to being a year old, and he likes to take naps on and off throughout the day. What is the closeest your beardie can get to the UVB light? Is your basking bulb close to the UVB bulb?

The Reptisun 10 tube bulb should not be any closer than 6 inches really, for eye protection.
The Exoterra SunGlo is coated with Neodymium, which is not a bright enough bulb, in reality. The coating masks the yellow hues which are naturally supposed to be seen but they do that to artifically increase the CRI of the rating of the bulb. I would switch that basking bulb out for a bright white halogen bulb or a regular household light bulb to see if his eyes improve.

No, there are not any negative impacts of the bulb, just too low of brightness quality for him. How are his eyes doing?

I think switching your basking light will greatly help out! I hope he starts getting better for you soon.
Let me know if you have more questions.
You could try to feed him some baby food also, that can help him gain a little bit of weight.
