baby with broken hand, looks to be dying-- vet trip

Well, he has put him to bed for the night, I guess he wasn't moving much. I gave him a syringe and some critical care, he got some stage 1 squash baby food and is gonna try that tomorrow assuming the poor thing is still alive. I'm trying to get him to take him to the vets, but money is an issue so I am not really sure what is gonna happen with that. The arm is not an open wound.

Seeing as the breeder is refunding your friend the money for the dragon, cant he use that for a vet?

Also immobilising the hand is priority, any movement will cause pain and pain will cause lethargy and not wanting to eat.

Try splinting it wit a icecream stick wrapped in gauze or cotton wool and wrap with a plaster or something. Or even just wrap gauze and a plaster around it like suggested earlier . . . . anything to prevent it from moving. If it is a break it wont heal if it can be moved.
Calcium is also very important right now as well as UVB to aid in bone strength and get it to heal.

Silkworms can help the baby right now, blend them up and feed via dropper or syringe as the enzyne serapeptase inside the silkworm acts as a natural pain killer which may make him feel better in the mean time

He has eaten 5 or 6 drops of squash baby food and critical care today.

My friend is using a dropper to drop the baby food and critical care mix onto his nose and he is licking it up

Poor little guy, that hand really needs to be set before it heals in that position. Hopefully now that it is eating, he will come around quickly.

The baby ended up eating a whole syringe full of food throughout the day. My friend says he sleeps pretty much all the time though. Not sure what that means.

That is such a cute picture!
How is he hand?
The baby has been through tremendous stress so that is probably one reason he is a sleepy baby. At least he is taking baby food though so he will get some nutrition in him.

Ok, so here is the direct message I got from my friend after the very visit today
"Anywhoo, hes now 5 grams, so he gained some weight!But... his weight and calcium levels are low for his age His hand is most likely caused due to him lacking so much calcium as a baby, its not broken...its hurt and the lack of calcium sure didnt help whatever caused it, before or during shipping. MDB is something that could very likely happen if the problem was not addressed/ persists. I was told to continue with what im doing if hes eating, make sure he gets calcium, if it persists I may need liquid calcium etc. It also could be parasite related but seeing as he as hes gaining weight its doubtful to be that. It was more than likely weak bones, lack of calcium growing up."

Needless to say, he is gonna keep the little guy.

That is great his hand was not broken then! At his age, he should be able to recover fairly quickly from low calcium issues.
That is good news he has decided to keep him then, I am happy to hear that.

I would suggest to your friend to get the liquid calcium from Tracie at this place: http://www.bug-de-lite.com/ We got some from her (raspberry flavor) and Goldie likes it, she just doesn't like the syringe. Rosie, I've given it to her sometimes as she's been brumating more than she's been awake. I don't know yet for sure if Rosie likes it also.

Tracie has two kinds of liquid calcium, one normal and one that is a little more expensive but it give a higher absorption rate than the one I got. The one I have is working for Goldie, however.
