Baby toe problem

Got a new little guy, he seems to be doing well, eating fine. However, he does have a bad toe, looks like he got bit or got his toe closed in the lid of a box. It looks like it is pinched in by a thread, and lost blood flow, and is slightly black. He seems to be bothered when I touch it. Any ideas?

Can you post a photo of it? It sounds like it was either bitten as you suggested or perhaps an incomplete shed has cut blood flow to the end of the toe. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't show an open wound and that the damage doesn't appear to spread. If you do see an open wound, cover it with some unpasteurized/raw honey which will help to protect and heal it.
