Baby not leaving Log

My girlfriend and I are the proud owners of a baby bearded dragon not sure of the age but ~3 months, and 8 1/2" long (with nip tail, -1/2). We've had him for about 4 weeks, and although he is in a 10 gallons (I know this is a sin but we don't have anything larger, AND I am almost done building a new cage 3 1/2' x 2'x 2') he does not leave his log.
His set up:
10 gallon (SORRY )
Zilla Desert UVB tube (Sorry, we have a 36" Repti Sun 10.0 were going to put in the new cage) in the back
1 40 Watt heat lamp in 5in ceramic dome (on dimmer so spot is ~100 +/-5) font
1 Coil bulb in 8 1/2in dome (to raise temp on cold side to ~80)font
Repti Carpet (Hes getting tile in new cage)
All lights on at 8:00am all lights off at 8:15pm
Log runs back corner to front middle and height at the top is 4" from top.
Eating and pooping fine.

The only reason he will come down is for crickets, he will eat a lot more crickets if the log is out. He has never willing left the log other than to eat and poop. (Funny story, he pooped on the log where he normally sits, and when I came home he looked so mad at me for not cleaning his poop, so he could bask up there.)
The cage will be complete shortly, just wanted to know if this was normal behavior for a baby.

Also when we take him out, he will run around.

How old is the desert tube? When hes basking how far from the tube is he?, Perfectly normal to bask all day, He will open his mouth or move if hes to hot, if hes eating and pooping dont think you got much to worry about, Be nice to get him under the reptisun as soon as you can.

The Zilla UVB was purchased the day we got him, so its not old. There is about 4" from his back to the bottom of the UVB bulb. If you say that there is nothing wrong then I believe you, plus it would be my luck that 30 mins. after the post I watched him walk off the log and eat greens, for about 10mins.
Maybe it wasn't him, it was me. haha

Honestly, I doubt you'll see too much activity until he gets a bigger tank and the reptisun 10.0 :?
