Hello! My parents surprised me with a baby bearded dragon about 2 weeks ago so I didn't have the proper set up ready. They bought a juvenile bearded dragon kit and of course, it was garbage. So, for a few days it had improper lighting. Also, I held him a lot before letting him settling in without knowing I shouldn't do that. He wouldn't eat and went through a shedding period. I now have a Repisun 10.0 uvb lighting, a 75w basking bulb, and a place for him to bask(He has a 20 gal tank). I put him in a little plastic bowl to soak once a day to hydrate him and that is the only time I handle him. Ever since he finished shedding he has been acting very nervous. He still won't eat and only sleeps all day. Occasionally, I'll notice him eat some veggies/dead insects that I leave out for him (maybe like 1 or 2 bites) because he won't eat live crickets that I put in there or any insects that I try to hand feed him. I have a thermometer that says his basking spot is only 90 degrees and I know it needs to be 100-110 for babies, but I don't think I should buy a 100w bulb for such a small tank. I'm thinking the thermometer is just wrong. Should I get a 100w bulb or make an appointment with the vet?

Hi. He might have some relocation stress that can last for a couple of weeks. Is your uvb a tube? Also how are you taking the temps?

It's a Reptisun terrarium hood with a 10.0 UVB linear fluorescent lamp. I'm using a thermometer that you just point and hold down the button. I got it from Petsmart for $20. I had one inside of the tank, but it kept falling down. Also,I forgot to mention, I have three sides of his tank covered to help him settle in better.

Glad you have the correct uvb. Is it mounted in the tank? If it's on top of the screen the screen blocks out 30% or more of the rays. Makes sure there is not a plastic over the bulb as that also blocks the rays. I mounted my bulb in the tank with a under the cabinet light fixture from Walmart and command hooks. Is your basking bulb a bright white bulb?

My UVB is on top of the screen, but there is no plastic covering the lights. I don't know about the basking light. I just got a 75w bulb from petsmart and I threw away the box. Are there any brands you would recommend? I don't trust Petsmart anymore lol. I'm just going to figure out how to mount the UVB and get a new 100w basking bulb today. He's starting to get very thin :( He is hydrated and pooping regularly, though.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
