Well not seeing gnats so far today. The little guy is acting strange though. All of his lights were on for almost 4 hours before he finally moved from where he was sleeping to his basking spot. Then when I tried feeding he refused to move or even look at the dubia until I put them right by his mouth and then I got him to eat 3, the least he has ever eaten. I tried picking him up and he doesn't really move at all. This is a first because normally he moves a lot when I try to pick him up or move him. Today he doesn't even look around when I move around the cage. Weird because he isn't really showing stress marks. Odd that the stress marks would go away but he would stop moving..

Hello,

Sorry you are still having some trouble.
You got all of your lighting switched out from the Reveal bulb, correct?
Remember too that babies usually go through a relocation stress which can last for a couple of weeks sometimes.
Is his appetite picking up any at all?

is he still pooping?

did he possibly inhale some water in his bath?

(remember baths should only be about up to his knees so he can support himself in the water.)

my female goes through phases of what i call laziness when she's not really hungry, she'll eat if I put them right in front of her, but otherwise she'll just chill under her log..... although I'm a bit worried on his not moving. still could be relocation stress tho. odd.

keep us posted.

Ok so today has been fairly good. I don't know what was going on with him not moving much. Today he was very slow to move to his basking spot, lights went on at 830 and at 1030-11 he was still in the same spot so I moved him to the basking spot. He perked up a bit and after an hour I offered him some dusted dubia which he took just fine. He ran them down no problem. Most of the day he has been creamy white on his belly or just some light stress marks. The occasional gnat is still getting in there but I don't think they are bothering him quite as much. Were going to do a REALLY deep clean this weekend ie moving the fridge, stove etc to make sure we don't have some food somewhere that these gnats are thriving on.

He is still pooping everyday and as far as I can tell they are healthy. The size seems appropriate for him and there is always some urates in there which I'm hoping means he is staying hydrated. I've been careful to keep the bathes shallow but the way he was splashing around (trying to get out) last time he may have inhaled some water.

In any case he has everything he needs in regards to lights, food, calcium, temps etc so I'm just trying to leave him be and let him adjust to his new home.

My only worries at this point is he still closes his eyes occasionally and I don't know if that could be normal or if its always considered a bad sign? Also he doesn't move from his sleeping spot to his basking spot as quickly as he used to in the morning. Sometimes it takes hours instead of 15 minutes and today I went ahead and moved him myself. The thing that strikes me as odd is that later in the day he was venting and all creamy white so surely he can't be sick and healthy at the same time? I wouldn't be surprised to find that most of this is my own paranoia because I know how sensitive these guys can be at this age and I want him to grow up to be a big healthy dragon.

he may still have some lingering eye issues from the bulb, sometimes take a few days to go away, they do close their eyes, i've had babies sleep basking here before too, if it's constant or he wont open the eye then I'd worry but for now, as long as his belly is getting nice and he seems to be relaxing, I'd say he's getting more comfortable and should be coming around to your handling a bit now, have you noticed at all? I like to handle new animals once a day every 2-3 days when i get a new one.

always here,

Charles

He doesn't seem to be quite as scared as he was when he first got here. I stick my hand in there and pet him or rub under his chin everyday. Haven't tried to actually sit down and hold him because I'm paranoid he will jump out of my hand.

update: Well he still does the eye closing thing but thats it. He doesn't show stress marks anymore really, he poops everyday and he is currently shedding. So all in all he is doing well. We are still working on handling, he runs away most of the time when we try to pick him up but I think thats mostly because of his age. And he doesn't like baths yet, when I pick him up to move him to the tub he squirms like crazy and tries to get out of my hand. Here are a couple pics:

He looked extra chubby this day.. I don't know why :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
