4 weeks ago I was given 3 baby beardies, 2 of them are full of life ( a little on edge but great otherwise ) the one tho, wont eat, sits in the same basking spot all day long, I have bathe him every second day, he loves being in the water... but as soon as he gets in he dunks his head in the water and literally sits there for up to 10 min drinking huge amounts of water.

I am very new to these animals and have researched a great deal but to no end.

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Tash, Congrats on your new babies!! I noticed you were disappointed thet nobody responded, this surprises me as the people on this site are quick to respond and very helpful, I also noticed that its only been a day and Christmas is coming so im sure that people are just busy!! I Cant really help you, but i know that you need to list some more stats. Are your beardies housed together, or seperatly?
How old are they??
What size is the enclosure? Substrate??
What basking and uvb bulbs are you using? What are the temps?
And what is their daily diet?
Could be that the little guy was just really thirsty!!! If they are housed together this could be why he's not eating...
Hopefully you find the answers you are looking and give the site another chance

Hi Tonya,

Thank you for your reply and for the congrats, im thrilled.

Sorry was really just pissed as Im in mommy panic mode ( going in blind ) and just stressed all day.

The 3 will be 2 months old tomorrow, they are all housed togetha and have been since day 1 in a 20 Gallon tank with astro turf substrate with a mat heater underneath on the basking side

i give fresh greens ( i buy a salad pack from the vet every week ) with tiny pellets and sprinkel'd with repti-vite - which they have never touched - they wont go near it. so thier diet mainly is crickets (pin heads) they have about 15 each 4 x day, 8 of which are dusted with calcium.

I have the Reptisun 5.0 light, the Exo Terra Sunglo 75w lamp (which is on for 13hrs a day) and for bedtime I have the exo terra Night Glo lamp.

Basking temp is 39 degrees celcius on the one side and roughly 25 degrees celcius in their cool side.

I mist all of them 2 x a day, clean thier tank everyday. although i never know which has made a poo or not, Diablo who I originally wrote about never even defecates in the water ;(
They have never had a problem eating before and I literally sit with them @ every feed.

Thirsty? he drinks like that 7 x a day for 10 min a go??

Other websites advised that he is probably miserable cause he may be start the shedding process?

just wanna give them the best care hence the question

Do you have them all in the same cage? He might be intimidated too much to eat. I'd separate him and see if it helps, since he isn't eating you can offer hm baby food. Mix chicken and squash together and put a drop on the front of his lips. He should lick it off then you just keep giving more.

So i was hoping that someone else would chime in since im prob not the best person to give out advice!! I've only had my Bob for a couple months, but i do spend ALOT of time reading and researching!!!! I was also going to suggest seperating them, like Gail said he may be too intimated to eat, if he hasnt' pooped could he be impacted?? I would try feeding him seperatly for the time being untill you can seperate them. And he hasnt pooped in the bath, is the water warm enough?? Wish i could be more help, please keep me posted though :) And good luck to you!

Hello,

Do you have them all 3 housed together right now?
Will the baby eat any food at all? It is usually recommended that they are fed separately, especially if one is not doing as well as the others.
He may be smaller or less aggressive than the others so that is intimidating him a little which will stress him out too much.
Do you have any pictures of him?
What is your setup consist of, such as your lighting, temperatures, etc?

I do feed them all seperately and yes they are all house together, Godzilla and Diablo are bigger than Tiny, but Diablo is the one I'm talking about! G n D are about 10cm in length and Tiny is 8cm

Housing him together, may be part of this problem.

Even if they were hatched together, and kept together their whole lives, all bearded dragons are solitary animals. At full size, they need at least a 40 gal tank to live in.

There will always been the dominant one (the two healthy ones) and the weak submissive one (the one that is causing you problems.) Gail I think made a very good point; your one that is not eating is probably too scared to with the other two.

I would recommend looking into separate housing for all your beardies. (Domination is just the start, they could start fighting or evening killing)

Or, if that just isn't something you can do just yet; like Tracie said, at least feed them separately.

Good luck!

Also, you need the reptisun 10.0 not the 5.0. I would definately at least seperate the one that is not eating for now. The other 2 can stay together for the time being. But he needs to have his own tank right now as it does sound like he is not eating due to being stressed

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
