Baby beardie very lethargic- HELP

Hello. This post is not for myself, but for a person on another forum that I belong to. They have a baby beardie that the they got from PETsMART. This is the second beardie that they got from them. The first one they got a couple of weeks ago and it was acting very lethargic and wasn't eating. It died a few days later and the person went back to the store and they have her credit for another.

She got the second beardie and now this one is acting the same way. I told her to bring him to a herp vet which she did yesterday. She found the vet on http://www.herpvetconnection.com. The vet felt it's stomach and said that there is nothing wrong with him and sent her on her way. Today he is worse. Apparently the vet did not request a fecal sample which I recommended that should be done. I have advised this person to feed some chicken baby food with a bit of added Pedialyte and water (to the consistency of pea soup) to help hydrate and get it some nutrients. Does anyone else have any suggestions about what they can do to help this baby?

Hi. Can you give a rundown of the set up? Like lights and brands? Temps? How you take them? What size is the enclosure?

Hi there....although the beardie looks to be in slight distress, the overall condition looks good. One thing that stands out as possible big problem is that she fed it mealworms. They can cause impaction and death, just Google it and you'll see. Babies can swallow them but often can't digest them and they may die. If she can get some baby food prunes , applesauce and a few drops of veg. oil or honey it might help if the baby is impacted.

Yes, I have actually sent her some Phoenix worms to give since it didn't seem to take to the crickets and dubia very well. I sent her a few hundred of the Phoenix worms. It has gone to the bathroom so I don't think that the issue is impaction. I am wondering if intestinal parasites may be part of the issue. I know that they are all housed together in the pet store so it would be relatively easy for an illness to pass from one to the other such as respiratory infections and parasites. It just seems weird to me that the vet didn't do a fecal examination.

Is the baby exhibiting any unusual movements or does it appear to be moving normally?

I believe that it moves okay from what she's stated. It's so hard when to answer when it's not your own... But I really want to help her. I have my own 2 year old beardie whom I adore and have gotten wonderful advice about her adenovirus here. So I thought I'd inquire about her baby too. I encouraged her to post here herself but I don't think that she did. I had inquired about other symptoms with her (stargazing, twitching, popping noises while breathing, mucus). She had said that there is none of this.

Thank you for looking at this anyway. I was thinking that perhaps someone here might have some other suggestions (worth a try).
