baby beardie need help

ok i have a question ....... i just resently gotten 2 beardies love them to death they growing so fast and eat alot :} now with that being said i work at a pet store and we got some beardies in and after about a week one stoped eatting just laying around as soon as we notice we took this one out and sat it up in its own tank ...... after a week i go back and he still isnt eating ..... they Panacur him just to be safe they said ...... so today i decided i was going to brang him home and try to nurse him back ( as i did with a different one a while back )...... but i want to make sure i am doing thing right and if any one has any thing else i can try ......ok after reading some other post i took the coil light off fast and put the tude uvb on him ..... i soak him in half water and half pedilite and been feeding baby food have tried crickets and he wants no part of them it 90 at baskin spot any thing else any one can think of and as so once i got him home i notice him shakeing a lil just once or twice not all the time

Hmm, the basking spot should be 100-105 and a tiny bit higher for babies. The temperature needs to be at least 95 in order for them to digest properly

I'm sorry, I'm a new beardie owner so I don't have too much advice to offer, just what I'm 100% sure of. But hopefully someone with more experience will sign on soon to help!

Oh yeah, what kind of UVB do you have? Reptisun 10.0 tube and Arcadia D3 12% tubes are the only ones suitable for beardies. Any others can cause harm/eye problems for them =( Unfortunately, I didn't find that out until MONTHS after I got mine (well my brother's first but that's a long story lol).

Also, if your beardies are on sand or any other kind of loose substrate, please remove that asap. They can ingest pieces by accident during mealtimes which will clump up and cause impaction. Paper towels, tiles, reptile carpets, or non-adhesive shelf liner can be used instead

Are you measuring the temperature with a probe thermometer or temperature gun? I've heard the dial or stick on kinds can be very inaccurate, up to 20 degrees!

Hmm, I'm not sure about how often or how much to feed him.. you'll have to wait for someone else to respond to that but make sure that after his last meal, he has a few hours to bask before lights out so that he can digest

i think the squash and chicken mix is a hit with him he opens his mouth when i put it up to his mouth

Sorry to hear that this baby isn't doing well. When you measure the temps, make sure you wait about 45 min to 1 hr before getting the final temp readings.

Good that you turned off the coil UVB and replaced with the Repti-Sun 10.0 tube. What distance do you have the UVB and is it right alongside a bright white basking bulb? Make sure you dust his feeders with calcium 5 days a wk but only 1 feeding a day and then with vitamins the other 2 days a wk but only 1 feeding a day. You can even mix one or the other supplement in with the baby food. Are you giving him chicken and squash baby food mixed together? They like it better when you heat it in the microwave for a few seconds to take the chill off. You can give him as much of it as he will take 3 or 4 times a day. You can put drops on his nose for him to lick off.

He actually shouldn't be on Panacur for no reason, only if a fecal showed a high parasite count. The Panacur can destroy his good gut flora which will cause him not to eat. What reason did they give for starting the Panacur, what symptoms was he showing?

Hopefully he will start improving soon.

well some reason the beardies that come in to the pet store arent in the best of health and the vet gave it to our store to do all the reptails when they can in ......... and yes the baskin light is right by the uvb tube i have him in a 10 gallon right now while he is not feeling well all he does is lay around ...... he was laying on the carpet but now that the new light is on him he is up on the baskin spot and i fed him the mix baby food about 10 mins ago put him in the baskin spot and just looked over and he was tring to climb up the glass the most i seen him move all week

That's good that he ate some baby food and is more active now. What is the temp on the cool side?

If it was me, I would stop giving the Panacur as it is quite strong for a baby especially if no parasites are present. Is his poop watery or real smelly? Be sure to keep him very well hydrated.

about 87 on cool side and i am soaking in half water and half and half electrolyte and i hide that Panacur :}
