Baby Beardie charged at me

Why did my beardie (8ish months, got recently) whip around to face me, opened his mouth for a second, then charged at me? Normally he isn’t very active and will let me hold him for a bit. Was he trying to chase me away from him or get picked up??

How old is he? 8 months is not a baby - is he 8 months or 8 weeks?

He might have been startled and freaked out, maybe a movement that he interpreted wrong. Could even be something on you, like T-shirt of a very different color, a hat, sunglasses...
