Baby Beardie always sleeping

I have had him now for 11 days and he hasn’t been very active at all. When I first got him I had him in a small 10 gallon tank because Petsmart said it was ok for his size but I learned that was wrong so I bought a big tank for him. When I first got him I bought Dubia roaches and it was like he was scared of them. He ate one of them the first day and then ran from them after that. I bought crickets like 4 days ago and he will only eat one a day. He goes after one as soon as I put it in with him and is done after that. He also won’t eat veggies at all. I’ve given him baths every other day to make sure he stays hydrated. I just bought the new tank today and got it set up. The temps are right where they are supposed to be from what I’ve read. I just put him in after getting it set up and he is basking with his eyes closed. The only time he really has his eyes open is when he is in water because he is mad and hates it, or when he is eating, rarely any other time will he have his eyes open and he doesn’t move very much. I’m hoping this new tank will help once he gets adjusted to being in it. Please help what am I doing wrong?

Hi there, he sure is a cutie. It may be a few things....one being that Petsmart babies can arrive at the store less than healthy to begin with. Then they usually don't have the best set ups, often improper [ low ] temps. + uvb. He still may be going through a bit of relocation stress as well.

One thing stands out for sure, the dual dome means you have either a coil or compact uvb. Neither of those gives proper uvb, esp. through a screen. Get him a Reptisun 10.0 t5 [ not t8 ] ASAP, or Arcadia D3 14 % bulb. Just Google online to find them. Those are linear , [ long tube ] bulbs that produce much better uvb to help his appetite.

I will order one now to give that a try. If that doesn’t seem to work, any other suggestions?

Can you get some Phoenix worms ? Babies usually like thm and you can leave them in a bowl near the basking area.
